Worth getting an Incredible this late in the game?

I just discovered my company gets VZW discount, so it could be worth my while switching - and right now, Amazon still has the Incredible for penny! ($0.01)...

Is it worth getting an Incredible this late? I feel it's about to be eclipsed by the next generation of Android devices (dual core, 4G, higher res, etc. etc...)

But at a penny, the Incredible is still tempting.. but part of me is wanting to hold off a tiny bit more to see where the Merge, Incredible HD, VZW iphone, etc. all fall out...

Thoughts?

My opinion is you are always on the edge of being behind the game when it comes to electronics. Computers, phones, whatev.

Hard to beat one penny for such a good device. If you don't like it, what are you out? Answer: $0.01.

I, on the other hand, am out $149. I don't regret it.

EDIT: This is assuming you already have, or would be willing to get, a Verizon contract. So if you are already a Verizon customer, I fail to see how this isn't a win. The $0.01 cent offer is for new or existing contracts. Though the penny offer doesn't apply to existing family accounts apparently. it comes up as $49 for an existing family account. Still worth it.

Sure there will be other great phones out there -some may even be better than my Incredible- but it doesn't change one fact: The Incredible is the best phone I've ever owned.

It was a wise purchase six months ago when I paid full price for it. It would be a wise purchase if I bought it today or six months from now. Buying one for a penny is even more so.

Dude! They named it "The Incredible"! That's a heck of a name to live up to, and it DOES! It's EASILY the best phone I've ever owned and it is STILL the best Android phone out there!

Buy with confidence! If I were going to get a new phone today, I'd STILL get the Incredible.

Samsung phones use "Bing" not Google. YUCK!
Motorola phones use "MotoBlur". YUCK!

HTC Phones use SenseUI. BRILLIANT! And the SPEED of the Incredible is unmatched!

I just picked up one from Verizon (already have a contract with them) and it is the best phone I've ever owned, period. As a former Eris owner, almost anything would be an improvement. But the Incredible is just that: incredible. I love it and have no regrets. There are always going to be newer faster devices coming out and I'll eventually upgrate but right now I am very happy.

Pull the trigger.

I just got my Inc last month for free from Best Buy and after having it for a while I would have absolutly paid full price for it this late in the game. It's nearly a perfect phone, IMO. It's sexy looking, FAST and smooth as hell with sense UI. I say for a penny you'd be foolish not to buy it. And as far as LTE goes, if the rumors of $50 for 5gb are true, I'll be hanging onto my Inc for as long as possible. Damn the man haha

THIS!

I am huge on having the latest and greatest, but have met my match with this device. If i were to go out and buy a phone right now today, I would come home with another Incredible.

The question I have about LTE is what the monthly pricing is going to be.

If you can still keep your current unlimited data with an LTE phone (which there is little chance will happen), then I would wait. The Incredible HD will probably be worth waiting for.

However, since LTE will probably cost a lot more per month, I would get a 3G right now while unlimited is still an option. With that said, I would suggest the Incredible. Best phone Verizon currently has (IMHO)

i'm sure VZW will find a way to charge existing customers more if they went to an LTE plan (when available)... they'll make up some clause that to get LTE you need a separate data plan, preventing any grand-fathering of any existing data plan pricing... just watch...

but in any case, sounds like still a lot of fans and respect for the DInc...

I was in a similar situation as the OP. My new every two was up in July and I already had a Droid Eris that I rooted. My Eris was running fast with no lag and did everything I wanted it to do. I was dead set on waiting until an Android LTE phone came out. Then I started thinking about the data pricing and that it's most likely going to change with LTE. With that and the fact that my screen was too small to really type efficiently on and a few other things, I decided to upgrade my phone about three weeks ago. I spent about a week researching phones and reading every review I could get my hands on. I had already used the Incredible and read reviews and decided that I wanted the latest and greatest from Verizon. I had briefly used the Fascinate and read reviews for it as well as the Droid 2. I was set on the Fascinate and almost bought it. Then I decided I wanted to the Droid 2 and was set on it. I went to the Verizon store to actually use both phones and I didn't fall in love with either. Then I looked over and saw the Incredible, which I had always really liked. I had used it before because I know a lot of people that have it. I picked it up and within ten seconds I knew that it was still the best Android device on Verizon. I now have a Droid Incredible and couldn't be happier.

TL;DR - I didn't want to take my chances on LTE pricing and the Incredible is still better than than Droid X, Droid 2, or Fascinate.

WTF a PENNY? What/Why did I just pay $150 for?

Well, I should say my company paid for, but still. If I could have saved them $149.99 I would.

I would say it is worth it. I haven't heard of anything major on the horizons and quite frankly I don't think it is tha far behind even new phones coming out, especially for Verizon.

Then again, I have only had it a day and I am still drooling over it. Ask me again in a month ;-)

Hells yeah!

For the time the Inc has been out, it's still in the top 5 andy's on the market in my opinion...

And better yet, I'm sure the price has come down so deals are to be had for sure!

I was just talking to my wife about this aspect. Less than 30 days ago, I spent $149.99 for the phone, and here it is for a $0.01. WTF? Going to look into that... but regardless. It was worth all 14,998 extra pennies I paid.

I agree with this. I got mine in June, and let me say that I came from an Iphone. I was skeptical that I would like this phone as much as the Iphone, but boy was I wrong. To quote Phydeaux....

The Incredible is the best phone I've ever owned!

I added an exclamation point. :)

Seriously though, this phone is awesome. I am planning on holding onto this thing for a long time to come.

I would put in another vote to get the incredible. I started with an Eris and would have kept it but for issues with the Bluetooth in my mini. I replaced it with a Droid which worked great but I didn't like the weight of it and didn't use the sliding keyboard.

I was looking at other phones and compared with the Droid 2 and Droid X (which i thought i wanted ) the DI was screen changes were smoother and the 3g speeds seemed faster. I also realized that the X is just too big. Add in the current discounts and I had to try it. I love it now. I think it will last me a year maybe 2.

,try it you have 30 days to return it if you don't like it.
