Accessories Looking for advice on a car mount...

I am looking online at various car mounts for my Droid X and found a few reviews but nothing that convinced me one was better than another so I thought I would come on here and get input from folks that might actually be using some of them.

Suction cup varieties scare me, too likely to fall off on the floor.

The bendy arm kind make me wonder if they would end up drooping down and needing constant readjustment while driving.

For me the "friction" mounts (basically bean bags with phone holders) wouldn't work, with my driving it would fly out a window.

I can't use the stock Moto one due to having a case on and I would rather not have to remove the case every time I got in the car.

Preferably I think I need something that would be a perm/semi-perm mount to my dash or console and hold the Droid rock solid while driving.

Any suggestions??

I've had the stock mount since July and the suction cup hasn't come off once.

Compare that to my old Tomtom which fell off at least once a month, and my Sirius Starmate goes down weekly :-[

Arkon, available on amazon. Search for the review in this section...I think it's on page 2 or 3

I had an Arkon mount for my old hp iPaq a while back. It mounted to the heater vent. The quality wasn't that good, but the vent mount was a nice feature.

Edit: Now that I think of it, the Arkon mount was vertical, it couldn't go horizontal. That would affect the Nav features of the X.

Arkon's quality sure seems more than acceptable to me, it's got like 3 or 4 mounting options, and it will rotate 360 degrees, you're thinking of an old model or something else.

Hello all!

New Droid owner here and first time visitor and poster!

Having just bought my Droid X, I have been researching the car mount choices and it looks like I will order another Proclip from Proclipusa.com.

I have several of these for all the phones I have had over the last 5 years and I think they are THE BEST! I am in the process of ordering the hard wired mount (Part# 513190) and I think I may even be able to add the micro hdmi connector myself so when I slide the phone into the mount, it will connect to both connectors and then feed the A/V to my Pioneer AVIC-D3 like my Tilt 2 did. The Tilt 2 only used one connector for charging and for A/V out. The setup was perfect as anything that showed on the screen of my Tilt 2 also showed on the Avic screen, and when you also have the Avic-D3 with the brake bypass and the Sling box app installed on the phone, you can see... well you know what I mean!

I HIGHLY recommend the Proclip mount and even though it is a little on the expensive side, you won't be disappointed!

If you need pictures of the Tilt 2 installed in the mount and showing the display, let me know and I will post some! As soon as I get the new Droid X mount and get it installed, i will post a picture of that also!

Good Luck!
