Accessories Anyone using a lanyard with your droid x?

I haven't put a lanyard on a phone for the better part of 8 years but I was thinking of the times I dropped my droid 1 and it was when I was taking a picture. I took the wrist lanyard off of my old camera and put it on the droid x and I know it will be that great extra protection for when I'm taking a picture or just general use but boy does it feel nerdy...

Does anyone here use a wrist lanyard? Has it ever saved your ass? I think I'll be giving this a try for a week or so...

I have been wishing for a lanyard myself. There isn't a place to attach it to the phone, so I am guessing it is a case that has it?

Actually, I have gotten more confident with my phone, and the plastic case I now have. I tend to lay it in my lap if I use it after I park my car. Then, when I get out, I forget it is in my lap, and it drops to the pavement.

I tried for a bit, but it gets annoying in my pocket. And the nerdy bit... Yes, it definitely feels that way.

I used the little hole on the bottom corner by the HDMI port.

I have a tendency to fall asleep when I'm reading. So I am using the lanyard from an old usb memory stick. It has a nice thin cord at the bottom to pass thru the hole on the DX. It also has a clip for detaching the lanyard when not needed. I didn't cut the lanyard to size, instead I made some fancy knots with the extra length.

I was recently on a flight and while I was reading, I snoozed, the phone slipped, but didn't go anywhere. Saved me the contortions of retrieving the phone from underneath the seat. The 'geek factor'? Who cares, I've been a geek all my life.

There certainly is a lanyard slot on the DX, mine even came with a lanyard. And yes I do use a lanyard, but not a wrist lanyard, a neck lanyard. To overcome any 'geekiness', I picked up a 'Redbull' lanyard from the MotoGP this summer and use it. Now I have all sorts of people ask me, "where did you get that lanyard"???

It sucks because there isn't much by way of lanyards readily available it seems. I searched high and low for one before I found this one at the motorcycle race. I was wanting a Nike one or Oakley or anything stylish, but the only ones I found were super gay with hearts or money signs and other such crap. I use the quick disconnect when I'm using it, then snap it back on and put it in my inner jacket pocket. If I'm not wearing a jacket then I slip it in my back pocket with the lanyard hanging out (which is the style around here right now anyways. People put their keys on lanyards and let them hang out of their back pockets). Then when I use it, I just wrap the lanyard around my wrist a few times.

Maybe on the geeky side, but I do know this... I have not dropped my phone since using the lanyard. And I used to drop my old phone (Blackberry) regularly. So, I'm down with function over form!

I don't think anything can overcome the combination of geekiness and lanyard...:) But seriously, I can't imagine having it around my neck on a lanyard - just too big. I laughed out loud when I saw the little connection for a lanyard.

Try REI or other sports-themed places. Lots of sports and hiking / climbing things have the capability to use a lanyard, like handheld GPS's ...

And just cuz I gave you a hard time, I looked on REI for you. They have several online. Oops, but some have a clip instead of the thin wire.. but now at least I got you started on the hunt..
