My wife and I have the same phone and are trying to get our MyTouch 4Gs to work with various mails.

  • One has been synced with and exchange server with mail, contact and calendar. We have see the previous thread about losing sync with contacts and have followed that process, by clearing all calendar data, removing the account and reinstalling, but have to do this every week. the phone keeps giving a data error message about one a week
  • Secondly I have a sync to a hosted Exchange server and can read mail, but if I go into my Outlook account on the PC I loose all the emails on the phone.
Has anyone got a clear answer on how to make the MyTouch G4 sing as a productivity tool (mail, calendar, contacts and yes tasks)?

Sometimes it's best to just call your phone company and complain. Remember you pay them to provide YOU a service. I've got my phone synced to 3 different e-mail services with no issues. Also why have the phone synced with your Exchange server if you're just gonna go to the PC anyway? You know when the last time I checked gmail on my PC was? Never.

I second gohausmachine's advice. You should just call your provider and get them to fix it properly. If you have tried everything you can to sync your MyTouch 4Gs to different e-mail services but have not achieved success, then you really need some professional help. Also, you might want to stop tweaking your phones on your own to avoid further complications. Just go to your provider right away to solve the issue.

The best way to get your phone to work properly with exchange is to get a Blackberry or Windows phone :p No, seriously, if you bought an Android phone and Outlook is your primary mail program, you have the wrong phone. A couple of guys where I work wanted to use Android phones (A paid of G2's) for work. They continually ran into problems when using mail through exchange. You'll find a number of threads across the many Android forums about these problems.

To contrast, a coworker set up our exchange server on his Win7 phone in all of about 2 minutes and never a problem.

Is there any reason you can't use Gmail exclusively?
