Do you want something where you raise the pet like a Tamagotchi or is the fighting important? Do you want it to play like an RPG?
If you answered "Yes" to more than one of those questions, the answer is "No." I think I saw something in the market that would let you raise a pet, but not anything for fighting, nor adventuring.
Before you get really disappointed, download Gameboid (they have something for the GBA, too.) and get any Pokemon game you want. You could also get PSX4Droid and get Digimon World for the PSX on your phone. I am not sure if that game runs on the emulator because I gave it away. I certainly would have given it a try if I still had the disc.
If it's really driving you nuts, you might be able to play Neopets from your browser, but I don't even know if that game is still going.
While I haven't played it, I saw a game called Virtual Pet Collector that seemed very Pokemon-like. The description says
In this rpg game you need to collect, trade, buy and sell over 100 unique pets. To be the best virtual pet collector you'll need to quest new areas, level your character, and use the built in auction house to trade your pets. You can collect dragons, dinosaurs, aliens, dogs, cats, frogs, and many more animals!
The pictures show some kind of a battle system as well. Users have given it a 4.05 star rating and most of the comments are very good. If you try it, let me know what you think =)
Emulators are fun I have Gameboid, Fpse, N64oid, etc, but I think is would be cool to have like a pokemon made for touchscreens or a pokemon with joystick controls that work for touchscreen like the kind many gameloft games use.
I actually created and released a Digimon Digivice like application three weeks ago!
It is called myClassicPet and can be found on the Android Market. It doesn't have real Digimon characters in it, but I have heard some pretty positive reviews of people thinking that it looks like the old Digivices. It has 16 different creatures and a bluetooth battle option ( soon also a colosseum option where one can fight computer generated pets instead of real life pets )

Omg it reminds me of the my old digivice...Love it.
I had the one thats counts how many steps you take and you can get Digimons from scanning bar codes.
It would be cool if yours can scan QR codes for more pets
I like myclassicpet a lot but it would be nice to have a battle system besides bluetooth, like online or even against computer generated opponents. That would make it perfect in my opinion.
Just to address a few things mentioned in this thread; I am currently working on a tournament mode and a single npc battle option for the application, I have it up and running for about 80~90% at the moment, it won't be long before I will push the update to the market. I am just still thinking of ways to make the battling engaging and encourage people to train their pet, in other words, I am thinking of some sort of reward for battling with an NPC.
I would love to include a QR-Code scanning utility to unlock additional creatures, however at the moment it is not high on my list of things to do. I am currently trying to get all the systems balanced out, trying to balance the creatures I currently have and the battle mechanisms.
obviously it's not out yet, but Meag is right. Journey Pets looks like it is going to be the next best thing to actually getting pokemon or digimon to android
