Help USB connection to PC problems.(2.1)

Since the update,every time I connect my phone
via usb cable to my pc,the phone crashes.
It asks for a Sim pin again and then just restarts of shuts down.
Anyone having the same issues?
I suspect ATK has to do something with that...not sure though.

Have you got your ATK set to kill Backup and Restore cos I found that killed my sim and therefore my signal everytime I killed it. Now whether that would have the same impact when connecting to the PC I don't know.

The other thing is to run a restore/repair on SEUS and connect with the phone switched off and re-run the software install to see if that sorts it. But as you know, this will wipe your phone so you'll have to set it up from scratch.

yeah i had ATK to kill backup and restore and every 30mins it would kill it and restart my phone back to my SIM Pin entry screen. Gotta be very careful you make an exception for ATK to ignore killing backup and restore, coz if youve got it set to autokill then you wont know that it's reset your phone and you may miss calls/texts etc without realising.

Backup and Restore is always on the Ignore List.
I ll have to wait till rooting on 2.1 X8 is possible then.
At the moment I m trying again with Z4root but nothing happened.
It doesnt work.Just stuck in endless loops.
I d hate to have to set up the phone once again in less than a week.

Try connecting the phone in silent mode. This solves the problem for me.

I had the same problem before.My solution is when you connect the phone, there will be three pop ups consisting of connect the phone etc. Don't click on connect the phone though.Instead, just press the back button and draw the notification icon on the upper side like usual, and click on the "USB connected" thing and yes, mount the sd card, click yes and it's done. You can copy all you like to your phone.Hope this works^

Thanks but in my case it just was a software issue at the time.
(ATK maybe,who knows? )
After rooting its all back to normal.

I have a similar issue only ... neither the phone or the pc detect a USB connection when cable is attached.

Hmmm, what i did was downloading PC Companion from Sony, installed it and plugged in my phone.

All the work later was done automaticaly by my Windows XP (recognizing the phone and installing the drivers).

Maybe u have a buggy OS there? Try doing a full Windows Update before installing the drivers
