Final Fantasy 13

What do you guys think of the game? I'm currently playing it and find it enjoyable so far. The cinematics are awesome. I love Lightning... Definitely one of the more beautiful heroines.

I really liked this game. It is one of the easier FF tho which was kinda a downside and it is super linear, not many side quests. But otherwise it was great, and Lightning is one of my FF characters of all time.

I guess what I find very impressive is the environments. There is a lot of detail and they're very well done. I find myself just panning my camera around to look at everything around me. It feels just so expansive, even though I'm stuck on a path. This if the first FF game that I've really played in depth. Im currently at chapter 5 and know that I have a lot more to go. I really like the music and most of the characters for the most part. Vanille is a bit annoying though and just doesn't fit in too well with the others. She just seems out of place. My favorite thing about the FF series with the character models is the hair. Lightning has awesome hair with beautiful layers that i wish was reproducible in real life

As a standalone game I think it's pretty good; but when compared to past FF games it just doesn't compare in my opinion. FFX was my favorite game out of the series and I think if XIII wasn't so linear it could have been fantastic. What makes each game really special is the fact that each universe is different, they aren't always continuations of previous titles (with the exception of X-2, of course.) If Square Enix had chosen to make the game more exploration friendly I think this would have been the best game so far, the world would have been so immersible and just fun to run around!

I loved final fantasy 13 it had a good story to it, the eidolon battles could be pretty difficult at times, the characters are absolutely gorgeous. (except hope, he needs to die....)

but with all that being said, there is very little replayability to this game, beat it once and your pretty much set with the game. My favorite final fantasy game has to be 10, theres just something about that game that makes it so perfect! (9 is a close second)

Ya this game would be great if there was more exploration and side quests. The only real side quest they have is getting the legendary weapons which is not even really fun.. its more of a grind killing those turtles over and over....

FF13 game cannot be compared to the games of the FF golden era (6-7-8-9). otherwise it is a decent action-rpg, its just not Final Fantasy any more. Square-Enix should return to the roots with FF15, but i have a feeling that they wont.

FF Versus 13 looks alot better and carries the FF style. too bad it is ps3 exclusive. and there is no release date. dunno what is taking so long. they could rename it ff15. it has nothing to do with the ff13...

9 was horrible. If you said 10 then maybe I would've agreed.

9 is my personal favorite of all, also Sakaguchi's, who is the father of FF.

Sakaguchi called Final Fantasy IX his favorite Final Fantasy game as "it's closest to [his] ideal view of what Final Fantasy should be".

also

Final Fantasy IX also achieved an average review score of 94% on Metacritic, the highest score a Final Fantasy game has received on the site. It also received 93% on GameRankings, the second highest of any Final Fantasy title, behind Final Fantasy III for SNES.

IMO, 9 is better than 10, and even better than 8. :)

I feel like I'm stuck on Chapter 11 now. The difficulty level skyrocketed compared to before. I'm dying so often now that it's incredibly annoying. I was doing just fine before but now... omg. I'm not sure if I can continue with this because my characters seem so feeble. :(

Update:

I've realized from looking at different websites that they all say that you need to farm to build up the CP... Not worth my time. It's a bit perplexing why Square Enix would make the game fairly easy for the first 10 chapters and then suddenly make it MUCH harder and force you to have to farm and do the side missions to be able to advance on comfortably. I'm very turned off by that and will give it a try before determining if I just want to trade this in for a different game and just watch the ending on Youtube. I despise farming.

That is what you should expect with an FF game tho.. Rpg in general. And 13 actually has the least amount of grinding I have ever seen in a FF or Square game.

I've never played a FF game before, so I don't have anything to compare it to. It's just very disappointing that they would do it like this. I decided to just watch the ending and the Leona Lewis's voice ruined it for me. Her voice is very annoying and sounds very "mopey". Ahh well... the game's environments were gorgeous and the cut scenes were spectacular.

I started Tales of Vesperia today so hopefully this one wont piss me off.

Oh I see. Well most RPG have an element of the grind. Where some people just want to walk thru and experience the story. Which would also be me. But others actually like the battle systems and enjoy it more so then even the story, to each is own I guess.

I loved Tales of Vesperia although it was rather short. You just might like Lost Odyssey (on 360) if you are into JRPGs.

For me FF9 was my favorite FF game of all time actually, it's surely is different and the style is more retro then say FF7, FF8 and FF10 in many ways. Which is my main reason for why I enjoyed it more so then those said games.

Lol, I guess we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree then.

I've so far put in about 20 hours or so into Tales of Vesperia and already like it a LOT more than Final Fantasy 13. The battle system is a lot more entertaining and the story actually evolves. I wish the game had more anime cut scenes though... 2 so far is not enough!

The music is "eh". It has its good parts and bad parts. The music in FF13 is absolutely amazing.

I have tales and lost odyssey but havent even tried to play them. are they good compared to other FF RPG's like 7,9 and 10?

Lost Odyssey is the closest to FFX imo. The storyline is rich and has some depth (it's also rather long - 4 discs). It also has a decent amount of side questing. If you are a fan of JRPGs then it's definitely a must play.
