Awesome Keyboard Trick

Sorry if this has already been said, but while I was typing on the keyboard I noticed something cool. If you type a text or sentence and you look back and notice that a word you tried to type got switched to a different word because of a missed key or just because of the predictive text, instead of moving the cursor back and erasing, you can just click on that word. This brings up the original suggestions along with what you actually typed even if you've moved past this word. Maybe the original Droid had this? I came from an HTC Droid Eris.

How do you 'just click on that word'?

Just tried this on the Moto Droid and it doesn't work, so it must be a new thing they added. Nice find!

You might try loading the Droidx multitouch keyboard on your Motodroid. Before this phone was released someone leaked the keyboard part of the Droidx and I used it for a couple weeks on my old Moment. Put the file on the SD card and then using a suitable file manager program (I used the one that comes with the paid version of the xscope browser) you just locate it and tell it to install. Then in your phone go to Settings/language & keyboard and select it from the menu. IIRRC the next thing you do is long press on the area your text goes in and select it as you default.

Just to clarify. It takes 2 taps (clicks) on the screen to make this happen.

Nope you are wrong...2 taps highlights the whole word.Thats good for if you completely missed the whole word up.The single tap is the one the OP is talking about here.I mispelled some words on purpose and the auto coreect fixed them but when I tapped it ,it still showed the missspelled word if I wanted to reuse it.

This doesn't work for me...maybe it's the keyboard or the ROM I'm using? Using one of the themed swype keyboards. I try to click on the word and it just brings up that magnification window.
It works for me both in the email app and HandScent using the stock keyboard. Click on the word, but don't hold it so the pop-up comes up. Directly above the keyboard you'll see the suggestion list, including both the word as you originally typed it and whatever suggestions were given at the time.

I'm a former Storm user as well. One keyboard feature I miss is holding your finger on a letter to capitalize it.

EDIT - I posted this after testing on my X, but it does not work on my wife's Incredible. So it must vary from device to device.

Yup ex-Storm user here too and I keep trying to swipe the keyboard down. Loved that feature.
I had always tried that with no luck on the X too. After people noting above that it works on the X, I tried some more. Swype down with your finger starting on the keyboard and it works. If you start with your finger above the keyboard it does not.

Ohh gotcha. Yeah, it does work on stock but not on swype. I never use the stock keyboard anymore.
