Just installed launcherpro. Looks pretty cool so far. Not sure if I want to pay the 2.99 for the widgets and such. But anyway, I was wondering how to change the way the icons look to the launcherpro icons. For example, the stock camera icon is just a camera. However, I know that you can change the icons on your home dock to launcherpro icons. How do I do it for the other apps i'll be having on my home page? Also, what else is there to do with launcherpro? Can you get a different looking dock than the one it comes with? Even if you guys can link me to a thread explaining all this i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Then pay $2.99 for it being "pretty cool so far" and something you'll be continuously using and depending on on a daily basis, resulting in you wanting to support the author and encourage him to improve and maintain it.

That's not a feature in LauncherPro. You'll need to use some other app.

You can change the apps and icons for the dock...stationary icons on bottom of screen...by long pressing them

There is a way to use custom icons on your homescreens. You must download or otherwise obtain the icon you would like to use. When adding the shortcut, you must use the Add option in the menu on the homescreen (Menu key -> Add or long-press on an empty portion of the desired homescreen. Then select "Shortcuts" -> "Applications". Next, pick your app from the list that loads. Finally, touch the icon in the dialog that appears and select an icon from your gallery.

Can you get a different looking dock than the one it comes with? Even if you guys can link me to a thread explaining all this i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes, you can use a custom dock background image. Again, you must retrieve the image separately. Menu key -> Preferences -> Appearance Settings -> Dock Background -> Custom and select from you gallery.

You know, for all the rooting around and customization I do with my phone, I didn't know this (I've typically been using a 3rd party app). Is this new in 2.2? I'm surprised I never noticed it before.

If I could do _this_ with folders, it would be awesome vs. my current solution of using a 3rd party app (Smart Shortcuts).

There's the free version and then you can buy a paid upgrade (that adds widgets, resizing widgets, popup gestures, etc.) When you buy the upgrade you get an unlock code you use on the free version.

For $3, if you like it, the extras are worth the money, plus contributing the project.

$2.99 =/= some crazy bill

But that said, Launcher Pro is free. Launcher Pro Plus is not.

What I want for LauncherPro is an indicator of where I am in the App drawer, like some kind of scroll bar. You can add that option for the homescreens but why not the app drawer? It's a bit annoying the way they have it now.

Well, the App Drawer is kind of like the "master repository", so I just setup logically grouped folders on my home screens. Plus there's quite a few items in the AD that are placeholders for system tools, widgets, etc.

That's one thing I really like about Android vs. iOS, the ability separate all the installs programs into a totally isolated display (home screens, folders, etc.)

Color me impressed, Mr 3 Posts. Like DT, I didn't know that trick either. Just tested it on stock Android 2.1 and it works.

And not only does it allow you to change the icon, but the text that appears below it as well.

There doesn't seem to be a way to edit the shortcut after creating it... so you need to get it the way you want it, or go through the process (not that it's a huge one) again.

This is great, as I use non-stock 3rd-party apps for pretty much every function, but would like to use the generic names and icons of the stock apps for a nice clean look (K9 is a particular eyesore).
