Does the N1 support HSPA+?

I get the HSPA+ icon since I'm on CM6.1. But I'm seeing a lot of people saying the Nexus One doesn't really support HSPA+ (T-Mo fake 4G) and neither does the Nexus S.

Someone please clarify?

I thought it signified HSDPA - or fast 3G up to 7.2 mbps.

no H icon in stock ROM, just 3G, but it will show either you are on HSPA or UMTS

So what you are telling me is that.. my Nexus supports up to 7.2mbps but if they up the speed of HSPA+ my Nexus is still limited to 7.2mbps?

EDIT: I don't mean to be difficult.. But what I 'knew' was T-Mo is calling their 3G HSPA+ network "4G" and the Nexus One supports HSPA+, but T-Mo is now saying the Nexus One doesn't support it's "4G" and apparently neither does the Nexus S.

Is it 7.2 Mbps = .9MB/s ? So with the N1 I can almost get 1MB a second or is it I can download 7.2 MB a second?

Difference is megabit per second vs megabyte per second.

8 bits = 1 byte

Technically it's supposed to be Mbps/mbps vs MBps (Mb/s vs MB/s).

So 7.2 mbps = 0.9 MBps
(Or 8 mbps = 1 MBps)

Nexus one doesn't support HSPA+ but if you're in a HSPA+ area (T Mobile 4g) you will get faster speeds on the Nexus. For example when my area was 3g I got about 800kbps download. Now that my areas is 4g I get 1.5 megs. Pretty much double the speed. Now if I get an HSPA+ phone I should get downloads speeds around 3 to 4 megs.

In fairness, those speeds are still a bit shite... I get 3.5Mbps on just HSDPA (as in the UK they've only just made 4G licenses available, so we're a way off that yet).
