Root Is my Fascinate rooted?

Hey all. I'll be hanging around this forum a lot, I think. lol

I have a Samsung Fascinate on Telus up here in Canada. Anyway, last night I went through a rooting tutorial on Youtube, but later realized that it would only work on a Verizon carrier. *Noob* I went through the process and even got the "successfully exploited" message in the cmd prompt, but I also got some errors saying that certain files could not be detected (i.e. BusyBox not detected and such). My phone powered back up without a hitch and I then went to the Market and downloaded Titanium and Superuser. On Titanium I got the Root access ===> FAILED. Superuser was unable to update the su. So, I then downloaded Terminal Emulator and tested by typing in "su". I got the "not found" message, which is supposed to mean your phone is not rooted.

All things obviously point to my phone not being rooted, but I just want to be sure there are no files on my phone that will prevent me from upgrading to 2.2 Froyo when it finally makes its way to Telus sometime early in the new year.

I'm really new to this Android OS and shouldn't have been mucking around like I was so soon. Fortunately my phone, on the surface, seems to be no worse for the wear.

Is there anything else I should be looking out for or removing from my phone, or should I just count myself lucky that I didn't brick the damn thing and move on? lol

Cheers!
