Hi for some reason there is an announcement on the HTC website that there is an update for Android 2.3 for HTC Desire HD.

I went to do it manually in settings => About Phone
I click on check manually.. No updates...

My mobile is UK Sim Free.. Any network..

I don't understand why its saying there is an update yet I am unable to update my Mobile..

Please can some one point me in the correct direction..

Thanks..

I am using an O2 simcard.

I am new to Android.. I never knew a mobile could do so much..
What's all this hype about gingerbread I have been reading..

I mean.. Its supposed to be in the 2.3 for the nexus..
Is it in the 2.3 for the HD

Also.. I wanted to ask.. Because I can always send this back and get a nexus..
Overall the specs in performance for the HTC say 1GHZ and 768MB mem...
How can the nexus be faster with only 512 ram?
Is it the exclusive release of gingerbread that makes it a better mobile..
I ain't that bothered about the sensors and that.. I mean.. Who uses them anyway..
I love apps and want it to be really smooth..

Its not 2.3. Its just an update to 2.2 for the Android Market:

The new Software number will be 2.29.405.2
Update Information: Android market Update. Note: We still recommend you back up your all personal data first."

Well I ain't on that version..
Mine says
Software Number: 1.32.405.6
.............................................

So its not 2.3??
hmm..
Well strange how 2.3 is released and we don't get it..
Any idea if we will get it with gingerbread?

Check the android version. The version that you mentioned is the phone version. Not Its operation system. My phone version is also 1.32 but im running on Android 2.2

At last, I thought, an upgrade that I can do on my own, so I tried putting gingerbread on my Desire HD today. But it looked very odd and I couldn't see the point of it, so took it off again - I was mainly worried about crumbs getting in the works. I'm wondering whether honeycomb will be any better - will a Crunchie work ok or does the chocolate mess things up?
