Help Lookout Mobile Security and Battery Indicator apps....higher battery drain?

well, you can definitely expect more juice use than normal when you have things like that running in the background. sorry, i can't help with lookout but i do have a battery widget and i see it in running services, which is understandable because its purpose is to constantly check and calculate how much battery is left.

it's a give and take, when it comes to apps, widgets and battery life.

Has anyone noticed an increase in battey drain while using the Lookout Mobile Security app? I noticed my battery drain was a little higher than usual today. I also have an app called battery indicator installed and was wondering if those apps cause higher battery drain also?

I just installed Lookout and have enabled the GPS (as its pointless, I think having this app without the GPS being on) and thought my battery life was being eaten away.

Is there a list of what apps drain the battery more than others? We all know like a kettle uses more electric than a light bulb sort of of thing.........

Gents?

The latest Lookout update will activate the GPS when needed even if turned off.

Hi James, there was some faulty app on my phone which was draining the battery 24/7 by using the GPS, I didnt know this until I installed Lookout and needed the GPS to be enabled, some of the guys on here pointed out to me that just because you enable the GPS there should be anything on the space bar at the top of the phone if its not being used. Anyway I got rid of a few apps and hey presto no battery drain any more and me - one happy bunny

The Lookout has a nice virus scanner and seems a decent app. I got an email from them yesterday with all this technical gump about battery usage for the last fortnight etc.

And yes I updated the app earlier this week, thanks for the tip;)
