HTC Knight specs.... what are they??

hi all..

this phone looks interesting.. but not much info is out..

all i can confirm so far:

3.7 inch screen
a slide out ... something... maybe a keyboard. some say speakers (useless for me).

some speculation that it is the Desire Z / G2.. in Sprint form.

does anyone have more concrete information?

Although, if it is similar to the G2... it will be pretty sexy. (notice the pic in the link says 1/6/11, so it should be out before then... if there is a case for it on that date.)

3.7 isn't a bad size though.

agree. they could have made the phone more compact or added some more real-estate to the screen.

now the next question is... will it be 4G? 4G would be nice if someone is located in the coverage map, but the extra $ can be a nuisance... if it's not available/desired (even though with the $10, Sprint still has better plans)

Have a look at your link again, fmalcolmr. The story has been updated with a prospective launch date of January 5 and a name that substitutes Speedy for Knight. Unless Speedy refers to the convenience of the form, does this mean the data speed will be fast (i.e., 4G)? Apparently, we have months to figure it out.

this is what I want too... I refuse to pay $10 extra a month for a 4G phone when theres no 4G anywhere on the East coast. For the longest time I was pretty set on making sure whatever phone I got had a keyboard, but I was recenty playing with an Evo the other day and I think I might be able to pull it off. If for some reason though I go back to wanting the keyboard, I might pickup a Transform.

I went from a keyboard to the Hero and it's not bad but I think I really want the keyboard back. My upgrade is...today actually, but I really hope I can hold out until the Speedy/Knight comes out cuz it kinda looks awesome!

yea im kind of leaning toward the Transform with the keyboard... The on screen kyboard on certain phones are not bad but to have to use an on screen keyboard ALL THE TIME might get old after a while... Like I said, I was playing with an Evo the other day and it wasnt bad but when I think of how much more efficient I am on a keyboard, I think I ned to stick with one...

I actually heard this from someone else too (might have been you), so I gave Sprint a call and they confirmed this for me. I must say they are marketing this EXTREMELY poorly. On all of their phone models and online plans it only states that there is an additional charge for 4G coverage. The fact that it is uncapped mihgt be somewhere in the fine print, but why on earth would you put THAT in the fine print. Uncapped data and priority on calls/data is a bigger selling point for me than 4G service, being that the closest 4G city to me is about 6 hours away.

That's the thing, it isn't unlimited. It's capped at 5G and you are throttled when the network is busy. That extra $10 gives you network priority on both calls and data and is a true uncap. I agree that it would be nice if it wasn't required, but I use upwards of 10GB a month so I am fine with it. Also, FWIW, plans were pretty much the same when 3G launched across the board. People were paying more for a 3G plan even if they didn't have it, which is why Sprint is offering a few extra perks with that $10 fee.

If it's not unlimited, why call it an unlimited plan? I use on average between 6-8GB a month on an "unlimited" shared family plan and have never had any problems with service or been charged more for the use. Also I have a Hero not an Evo.

That's not a question to ask me my friend. Read the fine print though, it's in there. The cap is 5GB so 6-8 probably isn't going to matter to them much. I don't have a sure number, but I would guess something in the teens (maybe higher) is when the system starts flagging you.

There you go. That is part of the contract. Plenty of people go over that without issues. I agree. My thinking is (and I may be wrong) that with that extra $10 EVO and EPIC users get much more leniency. (By the way I have the everything data plan)

Where is your quote from? The only place I see anything about a 5GB cap is in this section:

Data Usage Limitation (Mobile Broadband Cards, USB Modems, Embedded Modems and Phone-As-Modem):
The amount of data transmitted over our network is measured in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred; and to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if usage either exceeds (a.) 5GB/month in total, unless specified otherwise or (b.) 300MB/month while off-network roaming. 1024KB equal 1MB. 1024MB equal 1GB.

This specifies only data cards and tethering. I have never seen anything that specifies there is any kind of cap for using data on your phone.
