Hi,

I have no idea if this is the right place for this so please move if necessary, these forums are very disorganised.

I have just got a desire HD.

I have no idea how contacts/people/whatever works on this phone. It is like a totally unintuitive mess compared to non-smartphones.

Can someone please explain it to me.

Right now when I click on "Phone" on my home screen, it displays all my facebook contacts and their phone numbers. Of course some people have stupid numbers in their profile like "1-800 SHUT UP" and other people I barely talk to and do not want to be accidentally dialing them. I want to wipe this entire list in its entirety but I don't know how.

If I go to Menu -> People, the only contact is me. When I go to "Online Directories -> Facebook" it shows all my Facebook friends.

So first off can someone tell me how I can remove the entire list of people that is displayed when I press "Phone" on the home screen.

I just want to set up my own god damn contacts. You know, put someones name and number in your phone like the good old days? This is ridiculous.

Can someone please help me out I'm at my wits end.

People is your contacts app. If you see facebook people, its because you have facebook synced. You can turn those off in the people app by hitting menu-view, and uncheck facebook. All other contacts should be Google Contacts, so they can sync and get backed up with gmail. You create these like normal, by hitting Add contact at the top of the people app. once you have all your people in there, you can link the Google Contact to the Facebook contact, so that way you have the correct number for each person, and have the ability to see their facebook info. Just open the google contact, hit Link at the top, then select the facebook contac.t

Thank you very much for your reply

Ok this is what I want...

I want my phone to import Facebook data and link Facebook accounts to my phonebook ONLY FOR PEOPLE THAT EXIST IN MY PHONEBOOK. I do not want it to import any information for people that do not exist in my phonebook.

I do not want my gmail contacts associated with my phone. The contacts in my gmail account are for the most part email-only contacts. I will not be calling them.

I tried to use "Sync with existing contacts" in Facebook but it still imported the entire lot. When I touch "Phone" on my homescreen its showing a whole ton of people I simply do not want on my phone.

Does anyone else think this is all totally ridiculous or is it just me?

I just want to link the contacts I already have in my phone, that I imported off my old phone, with their Facebook accounts. I don't want to import any other contacts from anywhere else, and I don't want my phone contacts in my gmail etc.

Possible?

ok, then link your Google Contacts to your facebook contacts so they are linked. Then, hit menu-view, and uncheck Facebook contacts, which will stop showing any facebook contacts that you havent linked.

Ok, then hit Menu-View, and there is a box you can check that only shows contacts with phone numbers, so you dont see your email only contacts. Many people like to have their email contacts so if they ever need to send them an email from there phone, they already have their address.

When I touch "Phone" on my homescreen its showing a whole ton of people I simply do not want on my phone.

When you touch Phone, that takes you to your phone, and the contacts you see are your recently called numbers. Once you call a few people, it will populate and recognize only the people you call most.

Just you. Most people, like myself, moved to android because the way it works is amazing. You can have all your facebook and email contacts all in one place. If you dont like it, maybe you should take the phone back and get something else.
