Battery life compared to Droid 2?

I currently am having problems with my Droid 2 Global with battery life. All settings turned off, I'm only getting 4-8 hours per charge with all background data turned off. I've heard varying reviews on the Fascinate, but from what I've read it seems to be better than what I'm getting.

With minimal use I've been getting 8 hours, average/medium use I get 4 hours. I'm considering getting a Fascinate to replace the D2G, I just don't want to give up problems for more problems.

while the fascinate has great battery life, from the sound of things you have either a bad droid 2 or a bad battery...i would definetly exchange it at verizon.

the droid 2 should get MUCH better battery life than that, and I dont want to push you towards another phone if the only issue you have with yours is a bad battery :)

Thanks guys. WOW I couldn't imagine getting that much battery life. I take it off the charger in the morning and just hope that it makes it through the end of the work day. What sucks is having to keep background data off, kinda defeats half the purpose of having a smart phone.

Going to exchange it tonight and give it one more shot, I'm 50/50 between the Droid 2 Global and Fascinate, but if the battery problems continue with a new phone, I'm going to switch over.

I use my phone constantly for facebook, youtube, and forums, so my battery life is very low, but I have a car charger, desk dock at work and desk dock in my bedroom. Also have a cable in my office in the first floor of the house.... I go from charge point to charge point always trying to keep it as close to full as reasonably achievable.

This is my next option. Just keep it charged constantly.

I just returned the Droid2 Global. Had it for two days and the battery life was horrible. Took the phone of the charger at 730am and by 1130am I was at 50%, I used the web browser for a total of 15 mins and made no/zero phone calls... Either way I went with the Fascinate and couldnt be happier.

I use my fascinate for business, it constantly has Good Messaging running and pulling emails from my corporate server all day. Check/compose email a lot, check web sites/other data apps occasionally, and I typically talk on it probably 2-3 hours daily (con calls), and it makes it on battery all day long. Usually have 30+% still when I plug it in at night...

Something is definitely wrong with your phone man. I don't know what it is, most likely an app, perhaps your getting a weak signal? Did you try updating the cell tower near your house?

I have a droid x, basically the same phone except with a bigger screen, and I can get 3 days easy with minimum use. Something is definitely wrong. I would delete apps one by one. Also maps that retrieve information you need to turn down how often they are gathering information.

if he had a droid x id believe it...during camp season in the summer i never used my phone and i could charge it twice a week if i didnt make any calls really (i wasnt flashing anything or using the web)

on this phone, i think saps and others have gotten at/near 4 days or more as well...its just if you use it much that wont happen :)

I understand it's hard to believe, but it happened to me a few days ago. :p And yea, it would've been great if I took a screenshot, but I don't know how to take a screenshot on my phone.. I always plug my phone on charger when I have less than 10%, so I might get another 100 hours if I'm lucky enough to use my phone in minimum. Anyway, it was the first time I got 100 hours of use on this phone, and I was surprised, too.

if rooted: drocap2, shootme (works on nonroot for the evo, fascinate)

if not: ddms in the android sdk
