Root Help with FRG83D on Root

So I'm rooted, and was stupid and tried to install the update once it was pushed to my phone last night. It obviously didn't update and now I have the FRG83D from this site, and I cannot get it for the life of me to work correctly. I keep getting a "signtature verification failed" error and have tried re-downloading the update numerous times and still no luck. I have also tried the deodexded version with no luck. Any help? Am I SOL because I attempted to install the OTA update originally? I've tried everything I can think of.

Interesting side note, oddly enough I was unable to download the update via the site directly from my phone. I had to use my computer to transfer the file. Everytime it attempted the download on my phone I got an error saying "Download unsuccessful. Cannot download the content is not supported on this phone"....wha????

I was rooted before 2.2.1 and I just did the update this morning. My SuperUser icon is still there, along with my rooted applications, but they won't work. So technically, you are no longer rooted. Wireless tether and wired tether do not work. When I open Root Explorer, it just shows a black screen. If you don't want to lose your root, I would advise against install the OTA update.

FRG22D->FRG83D update.zip out of the box will remove your custom recovery and root access, anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

If you want to install this update and keep root, you will have to unzip/and rezip the update.zip after editing the /meta-inf/com/google/android/updater.zip. Then you can install the zip using a custom recovery (I use sprecovery).

Line 1054 (comment with # or delete entirely)
Code:
 package_extract_dir("recovery", "/system");
Add bolded after line 1058
Code:
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/system");
set_perm_recursive(0, 2000, 0755, 0755, "/system/bin");
[B]set_perm(0, 0, 6755, "/system/bin/su");[/B]

OK thanks, that's basically what happened to me when I upgraded from rooted FRG01B to FRG22. Thanks for letting me know.
