I hate to say this, but I am working on jumping ship. As much as I LOVE my Nexus One, I have just hit the limitations with it and am banging my head trying to deal with them.

I'm looking at the MyTouch 4G.

I'm NOT going to go with the Nexus S. No point. As much as I hate Samsung, mainly for their lack of ROM support on their smart phones, but the fact that the hardware is "Okay" at best, no SD Card slot for expansion and, from the reports, the cheap casing on it, there is no way I will touch that thing with ANY length of pole.

[/rant]

Anyway. I'll still frequent here and say Hi. I'll still be on the forums, just not much in this section as much.

Although, until I get my new phone, I'll still be on the Nexus One. :)

Traitor!!!

jk brotha' ;)

I'm just happy you were here the while you were. I really respect your answers and opinions and hope to eventually see you again soon :)

Thanks, and you know you'll never really be rid of me. I have 2 N1's and am only trying to sell/trade one of them. I just need something fresh. The N1 I have been using is the only phone that has lasted this long. I am normally going through phones once every 2-3 months. Made my wife happy. I don't buy phones on discount. I stay on non-contract plans and pay full price for my phones (or get them through trades and whatnot). I'll still be here. :D

This is pretty tough news to take in. It's like losing your kid.

What limitations did you reach if you don't mind me asking?

First and foremost, the weakness in reception. Wi-fi and 3G.

I have 7 cell phone lines in my house. 5 on AT&T and 2 on T-mobile. No issues with AT&T in the house. No issues with ANY other T-Mobile phone I have, except the Nexus One. This has been an issue from the beginning, but I have lived with it for a while. No matter what radio I put on, it's either bad, or worse. This is saying something since I live/work right neat the T-Mobile HQ (used to work for them too).

Hell, even my G1 and MyTouch 3G works great at home. A friend brought over his MyTouch 4G and the signal was great on it, and my Nexus One was not even able to get 3G, it had a big E (with full bars though).

Wi-fi. I have Wireless N in the house. My N1 works GREAT when I am in the same room with the router, but I even walk to another room with only ONE wall between me and the router, signal just dies to the point where I'm better off using Edge.

Other, internal storage.

Yeah, I know you can use the a2ext and help with that, but even that goes only so far.

I LOVE this phone, but those 2 things are the reasons I am moving on, for now.

There are a couple other little things that aren't really contributing to the decision, but they all add up.

At least you didn't have the calibration issue. I'm battling this choice right now but I wont really need a phone until April so I can wait. Please give us a comparo when you get the MT4G.

I do have the calibration issue, but only to a minor degree. Anytime the touch is off alignment, I just turn the screen off and back on and it's fixed.

Awwww *Roze is sad :(* You better still be active here considering you have one N1 left :p

I will still be active as more things come out. I am working on developing a ROM for the N1 and the MT4G, so will release news on that. Catch is, I am not sure if I will have the time to support it, but we'll see how that goes. I have been working on it for a while, but suspended development on it to wait for Gingerbread.

It's a stock ROM, with some tweaks for space conservation as well as trying to work it to be a lean ROM on power.

Talderon im in the same boat with you. Ive been toying with the idea of getting a mytouch 4g since it first came out. I love my nexus and it pains me to think of getting rid of it (i wouldnt actually get rid of it id keep it as a back up). I played with my friends mytouch 4g for 2 days and i loved it, besides the fact that its running sense its a really great phone, build wise and spec wise, and would have been a better successor to the nexus 1 then that samsung crap fest.

My problem with my nexus is the lack of app space, yes im rooted i have every single app i can on the sd card but im still running out of space on the internal memory. Had the my touch run stock id probably have gotten it soon after launch. The only thing keeping me from making the leap was hoping the nexus s was better, but that didnt pan out. Id like to see what ginger bread has to offer then ill make my choice and probably join you.

I hear ya. I am rocking that same boat as you.

I just managed to pick up an HTL Leo (HD2) as well. Yeah, I know, WM 6.5... BUT, I just put Android on it and it is running SWEET. 1.5GHz over clocked, TONS of freaking space and everything. Perm solution? No, I just wanted it because I could. Still moving on to the MyTouch 4G. However, this huge screen has me pretty wide eye'd, for the moment. :D

The extra screen space is really nice, my next move will be to either a 4" or 4.3" phone.

4.3" screen on a phone seems a little too big. Might as well get a tablet then and use it as a phone.

The Leo HD2 running Android is pretty nice. LOTS more screen and easier to read. :D

Also note though, I am 6'5" tall and have big hands. :D

You're like The Hulk ... :D

Minus the green... Unless I am on a boat in REALLY choppy waters... As my sailing buddies can attest too... If ya get me mad, better run. 320 pounds solid, I make a great "hard place" when you already have the rock. :p

Some people just get all of the luck. Give me a few " would yah? ;)

Well, I think I can spare a little off the legs, would make finding pants a little easier. :D
