Evo Battery Door Warping and Kickstand Wabling!

Has anyone experienced this yet? My battery door is warping to where it's not flush (door edge to where it meets the inside of where it goes) and when i push on the center of the door, near the "htc" logo, you can hear it creaking and like a cushiony sqeeze.

And with the kickstand (aside from the wear it's starting to show) it's starting to wable and i've had it for less than a month! What would happen if i let it go on, i'm afraid it may fall off!

Would anyone constitute this for gettin a replacement from best buy?

no, the phone works normal and these items you notice do not impair you form using the device regularly.

however if its less than a month old and this is a new purchase, take it back and have them smoke it over. one can speculate all day on if they will or not.

Lol, i play around with my kickstand like, all day long. When im driving and just sitting there. It sucks, i have a feeling if i play with it to much, it will break.

No issues with kickstand but I have seen the issue with the battery door...even on brand new phones

I think the battery door is just kind of flimsy in general and the way it is made to fit on is not the best idea in the world.. There's a fair amount of give on any evo I've ever had a chance to mess with. As for the kickstand, mine has to be on a really flat surface to stand properly, but if you're sure there's an issue Best Buy probably won't have a problem exchanging. I'm almost certain they told me "no questions asked" when I bought mine.

Are you within the 30 days? If so you most likely won't have issues...if you are over then I do wish you the best of luck!

I took my second Evo in over the battery door...they told me it was normal and pulled three out of boxes and they all did the same thing. Number 4 was a winner and after several complaints they let me exchange it. So far that phone has been great with no issues.

Yeah, i've got one week left on my 30 days...so i'm trying to decide whether or not this may be an issue for me. And if i do decide to take it back, whether to stick with the black or get the white and red one. And i didn't realize the kickstand would scuff up so easily lol.

But i honestly thought it was because when i got my phone, i would use wifi to surf the web and kept it on, and when it was charging i would talk on it and the battery would heat up to extreme temperatures to the touch and i thought maybe it was a possiblility that the battery heating up may have "expanded" the plastic on the door causing it to warp.

I also use the kickstand to prop the phone up instead of laying it on the back when on a hard surface (after seeing how the stand metal was scuffing i didn't want it to screw up my camera lens)

i use the evo every night as a desk clock. every night since june 6th. i have removed the battery door many many times to swap out one of 4 batteries i have and neither of those are showing any signs of damage. i have the inexpensive sprint silicon case (it protects the camera lense because its thick enough to keep the lense off the surface) on the phone and thats it. it could very well be you have a lemon off the line. just take it back and have them "smoke" it over and see if they can offer you something that you can accept. thats your right as a customer. its free to go in and ask them so why not go ahead?

I was always told if you play with it too much it will fall off..... lol Anyways, Best Buy will exchange OR repair it for most any reason, only catch is, they dont just have you another phone on the spot. They send it off and have it checked/fixed/repaired. I was told minimum of 2-3 weeks, and they give you a chincy beat up 10 year old phone (least at the 2 I went to) with no gps/nav obviously. I ended up going to a Sprint service store (for different reasons) and they overnighted me a new one for $35. Had it next day before noon. The people I dealt with at BB (for my black tie insurance) were really nice, and helpful, but they said in no way shape or form they could do an exchange on the spot. This WAS outside of my 30 days however, I did have their insurance as I said. I would find the nearest Sprint service store and just walk in with it, they were great to me! I seen someone else in there had BB insurance, and Sprint replaced a speaker (idk what one) on the spot free of charge without their insurance.

Ditto that. I replace batteries at least once a day and never had an issue. I suspect that the OP didn't snap all the locks in place. Sometimes it does need to firmly close the door all the way around.

Yes I don't like how the battery cover is hard to get off and tricky to put back in sometimes. It can result in the cover not being on there fully flush.

Ive noticed putting the back on my phone, if I start from the bottom right (phone back upright facing you), and work it closed moving towards the top left makes it easier for me and I dont miss clips.

I bought a replacement OEM black battery door for my white evo because I didn't like how slick the white door was. $9 shipped on ebay. Rockin' the Oreo look.

I dont see how it's hard to remove or replace the battery door correctly. Do you people have trouble opening the fridge or starting your car as well?

ya know, now that you mention it I have had my fridge for about 4 years...and I have tightened the door handles at least twice

and I know that I have replaced more than two starters in my lifetime

as I posted above...I've seen in store that some of the units were shipped with warped battery doors

to the original poster: my rear cover is doing the exact same! but it may have been due to me dropping it one good time.

Plastic can naturally become brittle over time. Additionally, when you take the door off or on, you stress the plastic "buckle" that snaps into place just a little more. In time even the lightest snap could break off a piece.

My battery door never fit flush, it's one thing that was always irritating. I figured that's just how they were. And it is sunk in in the middle..like if you've slept in the middle of a bed for years. Had mine since launch and the kickstand for awhile now squeaks and there's a little click about halfway through opening/closing..but I don't feel it's going to break anytime soon.
