You probably never loaded a custom Rom or kernel so the specs would be the same. If superuser is gone, then it worked and you are on 2.2 and unrooted.

ok, so i returned back to stock 2.2, but forgot to turn s-on. what do i do now to get s-on? can i get OTA updates even though S-off? I don't have superuser in my app drawer

Unfortunately, you can't go s-on when unrooted due to signature verification issues.

So you can re-root using Unrevoked then load the s-on file if desired by toggling off signature verification in CWM. Following that you would unroot per the instructions. Being s-off will not affect getting OTA updates though. The only reason you'd want to be s-on is if you were returning your phone for some reason. Even then, it's somewhat unlikely IMO that anybody would catch it. It's just something you would do to be ultra-sure your phone is undectable to prior root dealings. If that doesn't describe your situation, don't worry about it.

i have a little blinking green light at the top does and a black screen does that mean its working? (stupid question i know)

So is your screen unresponsive? I'm not sure what you're describing. You should be able to use your phone as you always have in the past. Please elaborate if you are having a problem here.

Now that the newest 2.2 release is once again rootable (big thanks to the Unrevoked Team!), the 1st post has been updated.

You will now return to the 3.26.605.1 software...the latest release as of this writing. If things update further, I will revisit the thread once again.
Also a special thanks to Doug Piston for the primary hosting of the new zip. I included a Mediafire mirror for redundancy.

Thanks,

I have a rooted Incredible running Uncommon Sense 1.1 and the Nov. update wasn't installing, so I have decided to go back to factory and re-run unrevoked.

I have tried all the steps in this guide. I have used a 2gb and 512mb microsd cards...both have been formatted extensively and I am receiving the same error as others. When the phone reboots, it fails to install the zip

I am currently looking for another way of getting back to factory defaults. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your problems, unfortunately every bit of advice I can offer has pretty much already been said in this thread. What perhaps hasn't been said is how many people I have worked with behind the scenes that have sworn it won't work. But after trying over and over again with reformatting and/or trying various cards so far I think about everyone I spoke with got it eventually.

I wish it wasn't so difficult for some users but even if you're doing everything exactly right, it seems to take a lot of tries to work for certain phones. I cannot explain why.

Best advice I can give if you're struggling is:

1.) Use Windows to find the card (in disk drive) then right click and check properties to assure the FAT32 format took. Use the full formatting option instead of the quick format.
2.) Place the file on the card, then use a file manager app to ensure it's showing up.
3.) Try removing the card and replacing it. Also, clean the contacts on the card before re-inserting.
4.) Try more than one card if possible (I know you already tried this but as I've said before, it's taken 3 cards for at least two of the people I've worked with before they found one that worked).

You could try running the RUU (run on Windows as an .exe while the phone is hooked up via USB). It can be found on the Shipped Roms website.

I really wish I could help more but for some folks it's a bunch of trial and error and even redoing the same things over and over and then out of nowhere, it magically works while for many, it works the very first time.

Well oddly enough after formatting the 512mb card a few (more) times and downloading the stock rom from an alternate link I was able to get it to install. I was having the same issues as several others:

SD Checking
Loading...[PB31DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PB31DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PB31IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PB31IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!

Updated, rooted (unrEVOked 3.22) and back to Uncommon Sense v1.1, so far so good. I really do appreciate the replies and your genuine concern.

Thanks again.

Cool, thanks for the update. AFAIK you're the first person to update with the new file. Good to know.

I'm having the same problem with the phone reading the image. I've tried 2 different sd cards and get the same problem.

Basically the only reason I'm wanting to unroot is to install the newest update from Verizon (that won't install since I'm rooted, I understand).

Can I install an updated root or do something that will let me install the Verizon update besides unrooting?
