Accessories Samsung Case...anyone?

Hey, I'm new to the forums as of today and have a question about a case for the captivate which I am a couple weeks away from owning :D.

I was looking for cases and came along one on the samsung site (Galaxy i897 Leather Cover Snap on Case | Samsung Mobile) which I like the most from all that I have seen.

Just wondering if anyone has purchased this case and is willing to give me some feedback since I can't find any on the net.

Btw, not too sure if everyone is already aware, but if you do happen to order any accessories from the samsung website, if you enter the code: mobile10 you will get 15% off.

Cheers.

Thanks, but I'm still hoping that someone has this case since I like it the most so far (over 70 views and no one has it!? :().

I'll probably end up getting this case if no one gives me any feedback anyways, so maybe I will have to be the guinea pig to give my review to the community. BUT, still would be great if someone had it and could speak to the quality and protection of it. I want to get a better look at the front which can only explain "chrome" in the description...I just don't want it to be too flashy.

So I emailed a reviewer of smartphone accessories on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/wirelessground) about the case and this was the response he gave me:

"Hey Dave,

Unfortunately we do not carry this case. The only items that I can physically review are indeed in our warehouse.

Judging by the looks of the case it seems very nice and high quality. Keep in mind that it says its a two piece leather case. What this translates to me is a "snap" on plastic protector case that is "wrapped" up in leather. The leather has a nice "carbon fiber" weave in it.

The fact that it is a standard two piece snap on case it should not be adding much bulk to the device itself which is usually the more important factor. Also its OEM, meaning it's made by Samsung for your phone, so it's probably a really good choice. "

That's for anyone else who has been interested in the case that has not previously seen it aside from in my thread.

*Update* - I took the plunge, and got my Captivate. Sadly, I decided I won't play with it till xmas since I still have finals to write. I probably don't deserve this thing with all the time I have spent researching it instead of studying for my finals!

Also, I ordered some REELOOK screen protectors, and decided to not go with the Samsung case, but with an Otterbox Commuter case instead. Hopefully, some of you who have the Commuter can tell me how the case has been treating you and holding up(have the top and bottom of the silicone part retained their integrity, etc), saving me from making another thread out of it.

Thanks!

Yeah, I agree. It seems like most people are satisfied with their products. They are expensive, but you pay for what you get. The commuter case for the Captivate is a little different however than I have seen on other phones, and was worried about the top and bottom not retaining their tightness in the long run. However, I found a really great thread on xda just about this case. If anyone else was in doubt about the case, go here (Otterbox Commuter Now Available... - xda-developers). <- 7 pages of opinions, and pictures on page 1 and 5.

I installed a Commuter case on my wife's phone yesterday. My only complaint is that they used "superglue" to stick one of the tabs on the screen protector. It leaves a gummy residue when you remove it that is very difficult to remove and smears all over when you try. Finally used alcohol and with a lot of rubbing it came off.

Two things I do like are the buttons require a little more pressure to activate meaning less likelihood of activating them accidentally. The keyboard is a little less sensitive so less likely to accidentally activate apps or hit unintended keys while typing.

Good to know. I wasn't planning on using the screen protector since I ordered the realook ones, but if I ever do happen to use it I'll know.
