Root radio updates (my first time)

So this is the first time I'm flashing updated radios, they were just released

[ Radios ][ 12-15 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI & NV versions - xda-developers

1. In Amon_ra recovery, just flash from the sd card like rom?
2. Wipe data/cache/dalvik before flashing?
3. Are previous nand backups now trash?
4. Will current Rom continue to work? (MYN or Azrael)
5. Or do I need to flash a new "fresh" rom and start over?

I searched quite a bit for this info, but couldn't come up with the answers I was looking for. Not really sure what to expect if I do it, so thanks for any thoughts and ideas on this process

I was reading on XDA that if you flash the radio combo update that you need to have a non HTC sense kernel. I believe the authors are saying that if you use a stock kernel it will cause the phone to lock with a white screen and the exclamation mark on it. Don't know if this is true I am definitely holding off to see if Myn incorporates the updates in a new release.

I thought Amon backed up radios, which would make the older backups useless. Or does it just back up the 4g key?

I'm gonna wipe cache and dalvik, then flash. Gonna use NA 4.2.1 cfs to be sure as well. Will let you know.

Amon backs up your wimax.img which is where your RSA keys are located. Not sure if that backs up your wimax radio as well. As far as your regular radios, no its does not back it up

That was painless on Myn 2.2 with na 4.2.1 cfs havs more sa.

checked everything including wimax version in terminal and all good here.

thanks

Hi Just curious did you switch kernels to do the radio update or were you already running 4.2.1 cfs havs? If you did switch to update are you able to run a sense kernel after the radios are updated?

Thanks Charles

Im just trying to figure everything out before i do it..
Im going to go back to a nandroid of Myns RLS4.. And i just flashed Netarchy 4.2.1 havs more sa.

If i flash the package zip containing them all i will (should) be completely upgraded?

Now will the nandroid i made this morning of Calkulins Evio with HTC kernel #17 work? Or would i need to find a new kernel? I really like Calkulins and that kernel combo, it gives me insane battery life, and if im going to lose it ill just wait to do the radio etc updates.

I always use that NA 4.2.1 kernel, seems to really like my phone, so I had it the whole time. It was also on xda as one that will work.

I also never use htc kernels, don't know why, but i don't, and from my understanding after reading about 3 hours of posts last night, the htc kernels will get caught in a bootloop.

I loaded Calkulin today and it stuck in the white HTC screen, I pulled the battery, loaded a NA kernal, and it booted no problem with updated radios. Did you get the htc #17 to work?

I downgraded my radio back to 2.15.00.09.01 because it wasnt enough difference for me to care about. And i loved my battery life with htc 17 a lot. Lol
