Best case/holster

Hello!

I'm buying a G2...I usually prefer Seidio or Otterbox cases, but I can't find either for the G2. In y'all's opinion, what's the best case out there for the G2? (I prefer a custom case to a universal one. A holster would be better than a skin, etc. but all thoughts would be appreciated.)

Thanks! I did a search for this but it was a little over a month old and didn't really reach a consensus.

There's a lot of nice leathery ones around $20-30. Some are made just for the DesireZ/G2, others more universal for 3-4 phones.

Personally I'm cheap and got a 3$ pouch on the way. Also because when I use the phone without the case, I want the pouch in my pocket to be slim. If someone finds a good case that could be left on permanently (probably specific for G2,a allowing keyboard sliding out without some leather flap waving around) please let me know!

Does anyone have skin-type cases? I have one on my EVO and like it... but I'm not sure if they even exist with a G2. trying to get something quickly for my G2 (and I was not about to pay the outrageous prices at the T-Mo store).

UPDATE: Bought a couple last night on eBay. We'll see how I like them! Got some screen protectors too.

Got the Cellet case and it fits perfectly! Not as high-quality as a Seidio, but gets the job done!

I've been dying to find out if these belt holsters will allow the phone to face OUT. Reason I ask is because i'm trying to fabricate myself a custom car dock.
Every description seems to only mention it can hold the phone facing IN.

Can someone confirm that there is a belt holster that will let the phone face out? Thank you very much in advance!

I've been looking for the same thing for the same reason, with no luck. But I figure for this purpose the fit only has to be good enough to hold the phone securely, not perfect. So I've been comparing phone dimensions to find phones equal or slightly larger dimensions. It turns out that the G2 is just a little taller than many similar phones, greatly reducing the options. The HTC Evo 4G is definitely wider, and slightly thinner, but similar in height (which is the most important dimension for clipping in the phone). So I just ordered a very inexpensive, face-out holster meant for that phone from ebay to try out. I'll post the results, but if anyone know of a better match size-wise, please let us know.

I went ahead and purchased a Cellet holster and got it yesterday. Short answer is no, they do not fit facing outwards. I was actually sitting here filing this plastic down when I recived a topic notification to this thread. I'll post a picture tomorrow about what I di. Even after a bit of work, it does not fit in the case but it is definately secure enough for my project :)

I bought two of these since they are so inexpensive. The case does look good and fits well on the G2, but removing it took no less than 10 minutes as it gets a good grip around the edges. Plus, with the way the phone is designed I was worried of doing any damage if I tried too hard to remove it. So if you are never going to need to remove the battery cover, then this would be a good case. If you have extra batteries you plan to swap out, then I would find something else.

Edit: I tried the second case this morning and it was much easier to remove, so it may have just been a minor defect on the first case. At least I know it won't just fall off.

I ended up getting the black gel-skin at the T-Mobile store (yes, I know, I paid too much for it), but it works pretty well - it fits perfectly, lets you use the keyboard just fine, has the little nubs so you can push the volume, camera and power buttons through the skin, has holes in the right places for the charging port, headset jack, mike, camera, speakerphone speaker, etc. Aside from the price, I have no complaints.

I have the same case as c_aus (Premium black rubberized case) and love it. Looks good, holds on tight (also was worried about having to take it off, luckily haven't had to yet) and looks great. I do find it difficult when I have to get my fingers to the edges, but just something I had to get used to. That case with the Skinomi TechSkin screen protector and am loving the protection.

Follow up: The cheap, plastic Evo 4G holster I bought to try out does in fact hold the 2G facing out well enough for my use in a car mount, but I had to shave some plastic to provide access to the power button and usb connector. Good enough for now until I find a better fitting face-out holster.
