Looks like all were getting is Froyo for now.

This seems like a good time to bring out one of my two favorite Benjamin Franklin quotes "dont believe everything you read you might die of a misprint" :p;)
Not to mention that pic is months old. Typical forum FAIL :(. Not singling AC out as even this place does it too :(

yeah take things you read on various blogs/sites with a grain of a salt...generally they know as much as we do...or in some cases...less

Samsung should have rolled out an update to everyone at the same time.
I do not get why people in the UK and Canada got priority over us.
Well all the different GalaxyS variants do have and need different software packages. Its even beyond the whole GSM vs CDMA because even once the Epic Froyo drops its not like we can just use that either.
Speaking as a launch day SF owner I gave up on Froyo hopes months ago and now just a] expect eventually we'll get it b] I realize with 2.1 eclair we still have as good a phone just about anything out there c] dont believe the hype

Well said. I had mine since launch day also, and I am 100% happy with it, Froyo or not.

Yeah now believe me when I tell you I will do a cart-wheel once I actually get Froyo but I have resigned myself to the notion that before I see a 2.6.32 kernel on my phone I will have watched the SuperBowl on a new 55" LCD/LED TV I get with my 2010 tax refund I get in February :p

many other carriers are far less involved in tinkering with os releases than verizon as well. once verizon gets it there is a much longer process between samsung sending it out and it getting to us.

also since many galaxy s phones get updates through kies, its more of a straight pass off from samsung to the user...sometimes even with leaks or early update drops

Well, all we can do at this point is hope. I almost rooted, but because I have no computer at this time, I have decided against it. I absolutely LOVE this phone and what Samsung Galaxy S series has brought, but I think with the slowness at getting the updates out....I will be going HTC from here on out. I like MOTO a bit but not my cup of tea.

i hear ya....i like htc phones in general...but im not thrilled with their increasingly successful nand lock...it took like 2 months to permaroot the latest generation of htc phones...and my assumption is they will get better at it...not worse

but i would consider any htc phones in the future assuming they: 1 are a significant upgrade from what i currently have 2 they are rooted and s-off before id buy it

It's just that we've seen long threads of update anxieties in HTC device forums, Motorola and Samsung. Have a look around, check out the archives in Eris, Hero, Blabbetty-you-name-it. ;)

Once in a blue moon we see a thread wherein a "surprise" update has come to a user's phone and he's posting queries as to whether or not he should even accept it.

Device forums are interesting places. ;)
