Luke Wilson VS. Droid Robot

I must say...that i appreciate the love Verizon has been continually showing with their strong Droid ad campaign....i feel proud and extra special while in a room and that oh so special robotic "DROOOOID!!"murmur comes from my pocket....lol...the sound itself is so synonymous with the bad ass image Verizon and Motorola set it to be.....

The Luke Wilson thing....kinda douchey in my opinion....makes him look like a total dweeb....if he wasn't already...(total cheap shot,i know)...lol....even though the ads aren't about phones and more about ATT's struggling data coverage and dependability

Theres just an instant badass-ness when you pull out your robot in that room and talk to it...lol....come on...you gotta admit it...lol

I completely understand the pride you take in your Droid. I have a friend who is a complete Mac fanboy. He calls my phone the "WhyPhone". But I don't care, I like my phone A LOT.

However, I like the iPhone and I like Macs, but I liked the Droid better. I don't understand the "It's either THIS or THAT" mentality. The moment we start making fun of them for liking THAT, don't we become them?

Let's not be like the Mac fanboys. I don't want to be a fanboy. I can see the good points in both devices. If Verizon pokes at AT&T, doesn't AT&T deserve to poke them back? Hopefully the competion created by this ad campaign war will create a positive situation for the consumer.

One cant deny the brilliance of apple products....and its not with bitterness or envy that i made the post.....i for one have products from apple and others....i left the iphone to come to this device and company....i was just stating that through the power of the droid ads....that sound "DROOID" has a commanding effect when heard amongst other devices in a room.....im with you ...i love both devices....and pros and cons are held by both......maybe it was a lil cheap shot using Luke Wilson as a scapegoat.....but being proud of something shouldn't be muted and signed off as fanboyism....and if it is....so be it......

I gave the iPhone a fair shot. I just hate it. I'm officially a fan of Android because - quite frankly - it's awesome. There are just so many options and so many things you can do with it that Apple will never allow. Sure you can jailbreak an iPhone, but 99% of people will never know how - or have the desire - to do that. I know people that are fans of Apple and couldn't tell you why. I asked a girl at work why she has a Mac and an iPhone, just out of curiosity. Her answer was "they're pretty." My friends with iPhones are genuinely envious of Android, and they should be. The only thing the iPhone has over it is a larger app store and better media player. I like to harass them by calling their phones iPods. They don't like it much, but hey, that's all it is, an iPod with crappy phone functionality pasted on top of it.

As a marketing major I have to say that ATT's ads are pretty weak. Especially the one with luke and the umbrella. So just because you can call and browse the web that makes verizon's 3g map a mute point? But, I also realize that the ad agency for Att doesn't have much to work with. Its hard promoting an inferior product, most agencies will go with flash and humorous ads if their products are inferior. Att is taking the wrong stance with their campaign.

Side note: is it just me or has Luke gotten a little rolly polly?

YES! The ATT commercials are sadly weak. It is unbearable sitting through them anymore and I am now finding myself ever so annoyed with Luke Wilson....

I love the Droid sound. My wife and her friends at work go around saying it and they dont have droids. My wife has the Eris.
And the ATT ads are cheap. The only thing they can say is voice and data at the same time. Which I have never needed in my 10 years of cell phone usage.

Verizon is having a field day with the 3G coverage map comparisons. My new favorite is the "Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer" spinoff, with the iPhone in the Land of Misfit Toys. I don't consider myself a fanboy of any electronic device or OS, but I do find the commercials entertaining as heck.

Im a pc and I will always macs/ mac users until the day they all admit they are inferior to windows and the pc.

Now just because i hate macs doesn't mean i hate Apple i think their really good at satisfying consumer's just not people who see past the glamour (pc users).

But back to Droid vs Luke Wilson. The droid/verizon commercials are really harsh and funny. My favorite one is the Island of Misfit Toys me and my friends were all shocked after seeing that.

I noticed in another thread, you made a similar comparison between iphone users and Droid users as you did here with mac and pc users. You said Droid users look past the glamour that iphone users get caught up in. How can you like apple here then and hate apple and iphone in another thread? At least you are consistent here hating both mac and its products. You know that it's called APPLE makes the iphone don't you?

I do like that commercial though. It's funny to think what all of us would have bought if the iphone had come to Verizon originally. We might be singing a different tune. I love my Droid though!

I don't honestly hate macs with a dying passion. I do acknowledge they can do somethings..... (most you'll get out of me).

Basically i hate every apple products i don't have (thats an easy way to think of it).
I don't think anyone can deny the success of the ipod brand is well deserved and i like many others love it.
The iphone isn't a horrible device i just think its WAY overated and there are too many downsides to it to consider it to be that awseome, especially here in the U.S where only AT&T users can use it. What really gets iphone user's is the touch and apps, and they completely forget about everything else. To be honest this was perfectly fine until Android came out...

So i say people here look past the glamour because they were able to see past the commercials and see what apple lacked and didn't buy into it.
Does this mean everyone who bought the iphone is shallow?
No but to me it means many users are.

Also in the last thread i was really only referring to the iphone/mac, I love the ipod.

DRE2K2 - I feel exactly the same when I see T-Mobile's ads for the MyTouch. Kind of makes you want to dance. I just love all the new DROID commercials and those AT&T vs Verizon map ones are funny (mostly because we all know they're true). The iPhone was certainly the thing in it's day but Android is taking over the world.....
