Android Phone 7 Theme

Hi guys, I LOVE the idea of this, and I've scrolled through all 9 pages, and I just have a quick question. Do you have to use LP for this? I have an Inc., and DL'ed LP, however I still use Sense. I can by all means switch over to LP, but just want to know if I have to in order to get these tile themes. Thanks!

Theoretically, no, you don't need LauncherPro to do this theme. But... and this is a pretty big but...

All of the dimensions, icons, and widgets in this thread are based on using LauncherPro and, more importantly, using a 4-column by 5-row homescreen- which (I'm pretty sure) Sense can't do.

I could, of course, just ask what your attachment is to Sense? I am actually really glad that this theme helped me ditch Sense. I personally don't think HTC's widgets are worth using it.

However, to each their own. Desktop Visualizer works with Sense, but you would have to create all new custom icons that would be the correct size for Sense's layout. Might be more of a hastle than it's worth.

If you need any help, though... let us know.

I bet this has been answered before in this thread but I'm in a rush and don't have time to read 9 pages, but can you have multiple, Launcher Pro, homescreens? I'm using one right now and don't wanna get rid of it in case I don't like this in the future.

This would depend on what you mean exactly. In direct answer to your question: yes, launcher pro can have up to 7 different homescreens. If you are actually asking if you can save your current layout and just bring it back later without placing each shortcut and widget later... no, there is no way to save a theme in LauncherPro (that I am aware of).

But you can just add more homescreens under "Preferences", make each one different and then jist change which one is the default one when you hit the home button.

It was the second thing. Yeah, can't save current launcher pro home screen (should be able to, will email developer). But to tell you the truth, I don't like my home screen, gonna experament with this

EDIT: WAIT, there's a backup homescreens option, gonna try that...

EDIT 2: It says it doesn't work with android, weird...whatever

not meaning to double post, but when I'm starting out, and I am trying to do the Blue Box wigets, the SMS Unread Count is smaller than the others and there's a black border around them. any solution?

What device are you using? They have only been tested on my Incredible. If you have a resolution other than 480x800, they will probably not size correctly.

Yeah, I tried that too. I had to do a hard reset on my phone a few months ago and had to place all of the widgets from scratch. The LauncherPro backup only saves settings and preferences unfortunately.

HTC incredible.

Doesn't matter so much now, I just decided to not use all the blue boxes and put a weather app and some other stuff there. Making my own tiles and everything! I LOVE this.

I created some here:
Only issue I had was with the black bar, i don't know the right size for it so every time it's different I'm sorry. I'll re-do them if If I can figure out the problem.

Okay everyone... here is what I have for "Android Phone 7 Tile Widgets":

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So far I only have the blue widgets finished, but red and green ones will follow. These widgets may also only line up perfectly on phones with a resolution of 480x800 (Incredible, etc.).

Here's the link to download the APKs:

Android7 Widgets - Blue - 480x800

Copy them onto your phone and install them using a file manager (I use Astro).

All of the widgets work (at least on my device) with notification badges on the "Phone", "Message" and "Gmail" widgets (sorry, I can't change the badge shape or color and I can't change this app from linking to the newest email instead of just going to the Inbox) as well as changing icons on the switches.

NOTE: I did not write the apps for these widgets.
The notification widgets are skinned SMS Unread Count widgets by "kanokgems".
The hotspot switch widget is Hotspot Toggle by Mehdy Bohlool.
The other switches are all CurveFish toggles.
And the battery widget is BatStat Battery Widget by Martin Eder.

If you have any other ideas for skinning 1x1, 2x1, or 1x2 widgets available for free on the Market, let me know. CurveFish toggles are pretty accomodating for reskinning, but I don't have a personal need for all of them. Also, if anyone knows of another good notifier widget for SMS, Gmail, etc., let me know.

I only reskinned the widgets. If you have any problems with these widgets, please try to download the original version for troubleshooting or contact the developer of that app.

Also, special thanks to mykela25 for turning me on to APK Manager, which made it possible to "take apart" the apps and change the images for the backgrounds, icons, etc.

Finally... this theme has been a lot of hard work...
If you like what I have done and feel compelled to show your gratitude I accept donations through PayPal:

Thank you, everyone, for following and contributing to this theme.

NOTE: Soon I will post new widget images with an updated font that matches the new Android7 Widgets.

paulmz,

If you could, plz tell me how you got the blue tiles to all be the same size. I downloaded SMS Unread, got the notifications working, however, I also downloaded your adjusted blue tiles (for the Inc.) but when I use Desktop Visualizer, they're larger than the SMS Unread icons. Any help would be VERY APPRECIATED.

Hey paul im having trouble with the blue box widgets. I downloaded them from my phone into astro, but im stuck there. How do I make them a widget.

You have to search for the apk in Astro and when you select it choose the "Open App Manager" option. If you already have the unaltered version installed you can uninstall that one right from that screen. Then just select the apk again and install it.

Finally, like any other widget, just long-press on an empty space on the homescreen, select add widget, scroll to the one you want (it will still show the original icon for the app- I didn't change those) and change any settings if necessary.

Let me know if you need any more help with this.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the messaging app that is launched when you click one of the notification widgets that Paul provided?

I ask because I'm looking to use Handcent for my messaging, but the widget to read a new SMS it launches the default messaging app.

Thanks for any help.

That's funny. I use CHOMPSMS and the widget links to that just fine. Haven't tried it with Handcent, though. There's no way to set it through the tile widget... maybe there's a setting in Handcent?

Sorry I can't be more help.

sickpig:

The blue tiles are not Desktop Visualizer widgets. My icons don't work with apps downloaded from the Market. I actually recoded the apps with the blue tiles already integrated for devices with a 480x800 resolution: Android7 Widgets - Blue - 480x800.

You have to unzip this file, copy the apk's onto the phone and use a file manager like Astro to install them. The blue tiles will place automatically when you add the widget to the desktop.

Also, I know that SMS Unread recently had an update. I tried several different ways and couldn't get the square tiles to replace the widgets at the correct size. I sent an email to the developer to help with this, but in order to get the look of the tiles we will still have to use the old version of the app. Unfortunately the old version is less versatile than the new one.

Your icons look good. About the black bar: On the icons with the old font (Agency) I made the black bar 35-pixels high with a 60% opacity level. The text is set at 36-point with the tracking at +25. Don't forget the drop-shadow, too.

If you're using Photoshop, I have blank templates done that have the labels preset. They are linked for download on Post 1. There are also templates for GIMP there as well that someone else did.

Hope this helps!

And thanks for the donation! It is very much appreciated.

Ah, I see the templates now. Will be using them from now on. The one's I made I can deal with, every new one I'll use the templates for.

This was a great thread. Tons of great info and "how to"s. So far I've put together 3 screens, plus the lock screen:

LockScreen.png

CarPanel.png

HomePanel.png

WarcraftPanel.png

(Yes, I have a panel made specifically for Warcraft...)

Since I'm not paying Sprint another $30 a month for tethering, I just installed a Wifi Tether app (thanks to unrevoked coming out with a timely update). So, since the Hotspot widget controls the stock Sprint Hotspot app I just took a screenshot of the widget and treated like any of the other Desktop Visualizer image.

And I found a solution to the problem I was having with the SMS notification widget not launching third party SMS apps. Since I just rooted the phone, I used Titanium Backup to uninstall the stock messaging app. The widget works fine now, and both Handcent and ChompSMS are both head and shoulders better than the built in app.
