I know there are a few threads on this but none of the solutions work for me.
I've turned off wifi, used the imap settings, used the pop settings. Nothing.
It always says can't login when setting the account up. Also, its a free yahoo account, not a plus.

thanks for any help.

Here's how I got access to my Yahoo mail on my Eris.

Open your Anroid mailbox applicaiton (mailbox icon).
Press Menu
Choose More ....
Press New Account
Press Other (POP3/IMAP)
Enter your Yahoo email address
Enter you Password
Press Next
System verifies it can access your account (account validation)

You should be good to go!

Ran across a free android app called Yahoo Mob. You can find it in the Market.
Lets you login to Yahoo & Yahoo Mail, Contacts, Calendar and reformats them for mobile viewing.
It will remember your Yahoo Id & Password & log you in automatically after the first time if you tell it to.
Not sure what the security risks are with that.
Hope this helps

from my knowledge.. YAHOO! is not supporting the free mail account on the MOTO and ERIS DROID.. It will support YAHOO! PLUS which is the $20 a year upgrade...and you will have to add the incoming/outgoing server and port numbers.. I know some people have been able to add free yahoo but then it becomes intermittent in terms of sending/receiving email!

I initially had multiple issues with setting up my free yahoo account on MyTouch. Forgive me if this is repetitive, but this is what I've found and mine works like a champ.

1. You CANT BE ON WIFI. You can leave your wifi on, and you'll get a connection error that will resolve when you leave the wifi reception area.

2. Don't use the default mail server settings for yahoo. The incoming mail server should be iMAP server that is imap.mail.yahoo.com. The outgoing mail server should be smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

What do you do for the ports?

I was able to sync my free Yahoo! e-mail account to my Eris. I was also able to set up my free Hotmail the same way. Both accounts have to be set up manually, but it can be done.

I found the directions by searching on Google for "htc droid eris yahoo email."

The YouTube video that Nabraham posted is exactly how I got mine to work.

I have the Eris. Had a heck of time trying to sync with my yahoo e-mail account. Finally found a pre-installed link in the HTC widget. Go to home page Press the + tab, it will take you to widgets. Open HTC widgets. Open bookmarks and install on empty page. One of the widgets is Yahoo. Open it ,sign in, and access your e-mail account. My eris asked if I wanted to save the password and I did. Now every time I open that link it goes directly to my Yahoo e-mail page. Good luck and you're welcome.
