Help Not enough space

My desire keeps coming up with the message there's not enough free space.

I've got 13.77 MB free on the internal memory, and 11.8 GB free on the memory stick.

All apps that can be on the memory stick are on there, there's only a few still on the phone (like Astro, 3D watchdog etc).

Is there a way i can change the settings for the phone not to moan about low memory as there's nothing really i want to get rid of.

Having the same problem, It says I have 14.2 Int memory but I cannot install anything from the market as it says I don't have enough memory. Starting to kettle my swede. I haven't added anything though, I don't get it. It was fine and then suddenly it wasn't. Is there anyway of getting access to the internal memory so that I can delete some stuff from it. When I mount the thing I only get access to the memory card.
Cheers :D

No.

14.2 is too little. It won't let you install under 15

Go to CyanongenMod for a custom ROM that gives you 298MB free!! I love it, tons of apps loaded and still 160MB's free!!!! :D

Yes but you still have 148MB /data partition unless you:

1) Partition an ext partition on your card for apps2sd+

or

2) Change your partition layout

or

3) Partition the card for data2sd (experimental)

Please try to support your suggestions to new / unrooted users because your post misleads that flashing cyanogen in itself will give you more app space, when there is a LOT more to it than that

:)

PS, for info on apps2sd+ and rooting, please see the faq's either in my sig or in the rooting forum sticky

Ok I don't really how it works, but it works for me. If the user reads everything and follows directions it should work for them.

Fair enough. I didn't read the thread in all honesty :)

My Bad.

This is the custom partition option I was talking about.

What that doesn't mention is if you want to flash a different version of the rom, you will have to reflash "boot-v1.5.6-CustomMTD_S.zip"immediately afterwards to patch the ROM's boot.img, or it won't recognise the partition size.

I think its all very well having "noob" guides like that, but it would be better to get some knowledge behind android etc before doing it.

Yep, my motto is to read, read, read again, and if you know you have it memorized, read it again. I tried the mod 4 times before getting it right. And I really love having all the room. I was going to trash the Desire and go back to my Touch Pro 2 until I got this mod installed. I love the speed of the android, but the lack of space is a pain. And if USCC gets the HTC Surround (or another 1ghz win7 phone) I will go to it. But the Android was my only choice for speed, and the Desire was better then the Acclaim.
