Oldboy.
Ichi The Killer.
No Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance

wow, you listed oldboy and sympathy for mr. vengeance and left out the best installment of the three, lady vengeance.

personally, i didn't care for the end of oldboy(rest of the movie was great), and i thought mr vengeance was a bit slow. lady vengeance however was brilliant through and through.

one way to find them is to just go on netflix and browse the "foreign horror" section. they have a pretty decent selection to get started with.

Is there a specific order to the three movies? (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance)

no. even though they call them a "trillogy" they aren't such in the conventional sense(continuity of story/characters). it's the theme of revenge that connects them. to be honest, i'm not sure why they refer to them as a trillogy but they do.

The Eye is pretty good, about a girl who starts to see ghosts after having an operation to get her sight back.

Also Dark Water, from the same guy who made Ringu. Its about a mum and daughter who move into an old apartment. Not much actually happens for most of the movie (I don't think I've seen so many people walk out on a film in the first hour) but it really builds up a sense of uneasiness and then wham, hits you with the fear in the last 20 minutes. Definitely would be in my top 10 list of favourite horror movies.

I think I read somewhere that Spielberg wanted to remake Oldboy with Will Smith in the lead role but couldn't get the film rights.

I've heard that Host is a great monster movie.

If you like psychological mystery thrillers... then I HIGHLY recommend Mother. A lot of critics say its at the level of Alfred Hitchcock. I really enjoyed the movie and the main actress was superb.

I also recommend The Host, I thought it was pretty funny too.

Nightmare Detective
Battle Royale
Suicide Club (I thought this was a bit funny)
A Tale of Two Sisters
Cinderella
Death Bell
Hansel & Gretal (I really enjoyed this one)

two of my personal favorites;
Acacia
And Infection

Both of them are kind of obscure but are totally worth the watch.
Infection is a psych-thriller that takes place in a hospital, the japanese name is Kansen

And Acacia is another Psych-thriller about a couple who adopted a child.. i dont remember all of it. but both movies are good stuff.

I Saw the Devil is superb, probably going to be my movie of the year!

Good horrors are The Eye, Ring, Dark Water, Shutter and Re-cycle.
I liked Jyourei ( actress ghost) and it's by the same guy that did ringu or Juon.

It creeps me out so bad I can't look in the mirror or go pee.

Just don't watch the Hollywood remake. All J horro hollywood remakes suck.

Saw "Thirst" recently in Film 4's vampire season. Its a Korean horror written and directed by the same guy that did Oldboy, about a priest who's given a blood transfusion and becomes a vampire with a crisis of conscience. Pretty gory in the last half hour, but also some moments of really dark humour. Worth watching out for.
