Wake Up Phone Without Slider Just Pressing On Screen?

Hey guys I'm wondering how I can choose to wake up my phone without having to do the slider everytime or at all. I work at my home office 12 hours a day and my phone is on my desk always. I use it alot and put it down, then use it some more and back down again.

I'd like to conserve battery and not set it to just "screen stay" aka never timeout because that just uses so much battery with the screen on. And using that slider over and over and over well you get the point.

So how can I just set it to wake up on like touching the screen or something?

Thanks!

Not possible with a capacitive touchscreen. It has to have power (be "on") in order to respond to your touches.

Well I understand that but I just mean to have screen to go from brightness 0% to brightness 100% (or whatever it was set at) just by touching the screen.

So not actually sleeping the phone just saving the screen from killing the battery so quickly ya know.

You obviously dont understand. The screen will not work unless it is powered up by the lock button or sliding the keyboard.

That may be a possibility. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near skilled enough at programming to attempt anything like that. Even with the brightness at 0% though, if there is power going to the screen, it's going to drain the battery a lot more quickly than if there was none.

well the closest thing ive heard about this is there is an app that basically disables the slider. u touch the app and it turns the slider off. but you still HAVE to press the lock button. once you press it, the screen goes back to where you left it. if you get what i mean lol its called SCREENMODEWIDGET
