I'm sure this has been addressed, but I'm new to this forum and can't seem to find it.

I'm coming from the Iphone and need to know if I can sync my calendar and contacts with my Mac. I know the Droid syncs with my Google account, but can I get it on my mac into contacts and address book too?

Thanks

Calendar:
Get Started with CalDAV - Google Calendar Help

click on "enable google calendar in Apple's iCal."

For contacts, go into Address Book, File>Export>Export Group vCard, and then save it in a place you'll remember (downloads).
Then, log into Gmail, go into contacts > import (top right) and browse to wherever you saved it. And click "import."

Also, if you listen to music, you may find this helpful:
iTuneMyWalkman

It enables you to sync your playlists with the droid. There's also a few other programs around, but I've found this to be the best (ymmv)

good luck.

One problem I encountered tonight with iCal and Google Calendar sync is that you can't sync multiple Calendars. I checked google support and this is a known issues, it will give you errors.

When trying to create a new (secondary) Google Calendar in iCal, you'll receive an error message. Even though a calendar may appear, it will disappear after restarting iCal.

here is the link click on the known issues tab and see "Unable To Create New iCal Calendars..."

Contacts will sync fine through google contacts with the phone.

It is probably already noted that the Missing Sync is your best best, as of this writing, however, it doesn't sync your calendar. Hopefully, they will add this feature soon.

Android could steal a lot of customers, like myself that had an iPhone where AT&T service just can't cut it, if they were to provide a native OS/X application to sync all this stuff rather than having to rely on the Missing Sync, or diddle around with Google.

I really wanted to throw that first part in there (above) in case someone keeps getting server errors etc, while trying to sync iCal with Google and trying to use multiple calendars. Hope a search leads someone here and spare a lot of time digging around.

I agree, I have been using Spanning Sync for years, awesome app. I forget it's running half the time, it just syncs all my calendars and my address book to Google.

Thanks for the reminder, I just downloaded the Spanning Sync, great application! Syncs contacts and multiple iCal calendars with Google calendars and my android. Would be nice if they could build in iTunes, iPhoto syncing between my mac and the android though.

Take a look at SyncMate - it allows syncing iTunes and iPhoto:)

SyncMate is offered in two editions, so you are welcome to test its Free version before purchasing Expert Edition.

While Free Edition allows you syncing contacts and calendars and viewing SMS on Mac, Expert Edition offers even more sync options.

With Expert Edition you can sync images, music, videos, folders, bookmarks between Mac and Android directly. You can manage SMS on Mac (create, send, delete, export).

Moreover, SyncMate allows you syncing numerous devices within one app (Windows Mobile and Nokia S40 phones, other Mac and PC computers, Google accounts, USB flash drives, Sony PSP, Online storage).
