Thanks a bunch, HTC

So, recently I contacted HTC about the lag issues I am experiencing (lag in rotating, switching screens, disconnecting phone calls and turning on the device). I also addressed the odd 1/2 reboots (it will go back to the HTC screen and start from there - all by itself) and general issues.

In summary HTC first told me that the lag was and "Android" issue. When I explained that this is not accurate as I did not see it on my Droid, nor did I see it on any of my friend's Android devices, he backtracked and stated it was just how HTC Android devices are. In other words, the device is operating how it is intended to operate.

Thanks a heap. In other words: they know the issues and have no intention of fixing them. Watch me never buy another HTC phone again, mmmkay?

I called HTC and reported the phones inability to send pic MMS to AT&T. After telling him the other 3 phones can do it over the VZ network he said AT&T and US Cellular are the only carriers without android based phones. and there is a possibility the 2 networks can't read attachments from an android format.

I thought data was data but hey, what do I know?

I call for a boycott..

Wow, just wow. It's getting pretty freaking old all of you whining waaa, my phones lags, ehhh waaaaa, I hate HTC, I hate Android, I don't know who to hate but I'm pissed now. This was a awesome phone but now it somehow sucks.

Whatever people, if you wanted a damn computer to carry around then buy a laptop. What's lagging? Making a phone call? Ohhhh, no? It's you're lame *** game that you're trying to play because you're a dolt without anything else to do. Just SHUT UP ALREADY ABOUT THE LAG ISSUES. what are you solving? NOTHING! Mine works just fine. Your probably the ones who have a crap load of things running on thier computer as well, 30 icons in the system tray. Waaaa, why is my computer slow, it's junk.

Stop being so 60 year oldish...today is the day in age where things don't "just work" things are complicated, things have to be tweaked. That's the nature of today's things, does it blow? Yes, get over it. If you can't handle a "smartphone" then use a more simple phone.

I agree 100% my Eris works just fine, it's called maintenence, try closing apps you aren't using and keeping some memory clear, not installing 1000 apps that you don't use..

however, you are way wrong on that one. I'm in that age group and have a good grip on technology and what has changed in the last 50 years. It is the kids in your age group that have unreasonable expectations and whine if the electronic tinker toys don't cut the crust off your P&J sandwich. I think it is the youngins that are doing more whining. Mine works peachy.

If your phone doesn't lag, than fine. Then leave the post.

My phone lags. This is the second Eris I have and it lags.

I'm 35, grew up on computers, and have been tweaking the phone since the first day it was released. I know to monitor my apps, clear my cache, etc. Believe me I am WORKING it. I've tried various task managers, killers and panels. I've unloaded apps that were causing the phone to not sleep. I've loaded alternate apps (browser, Handcent) that speed up the phone and unloaded those that do not. So don't tell me I'm a technical idiot who doesn't know how to use his phone.

I was a hardcore BB user, and know what a smartphone that does not lag looks like.

Now, if the phone were like this all the time, I'd chalk it up to it being "the phone". But it's not. Sometimes it's very fast....even with lots of apps running. Other times, like when it first comes out of sleep, it's VERY laggy. I'm not talking about press....ok. I'm talking about press....count to 5....screen moves. I'm talking about press.....Sense UI fails and re-loads. I'm talking about the screen freezing mid-transition, and me looking at 1/2 of one screen, half of another, phone locked for about 30 seconds.

Yet other times it's zip, zip, zip.

So don't make assumptions when you don't know what you're talking about. These phones have issues. Perhaps it's just some, but there are definitely ones with issues.

i was one of the early adopters of android with the G1 and to say HTC does not care about thier customers is flat out wrong. they dropped this update on us not cause htc was ready to give us one. no it was because all you complainers never listen to the people who had earlier devices that htc takes thier time on update and that's just that. if it were thier choice we would have only got the january update which is the real one we should be getting. htc does not like quick fix patches to appease the masses.

why don't you think about the attitude you gave that poor minimum wage tech support rep when he or she was only going by what he or she was told to say.

did you really think your getting a dev on the phone who knows thier working on a fix. i think not.

if your that worried about if your phone won't be better with the january update then take your phone back to verizon before you 30 days is up and stop complaining. there's no need to B&M cause it only causes other people to B&M. if you don't like the product then take it back if your not locked in yet.

i myself love android and know how to manage all your gripes that you say happen. since i did the manual update i've had none of the issues you guys talk about. i never trusted OTA always waited for the manual one cause they seem to work better.

another thing is a few of you guys who complain in the forums are the same guys when someone asks if they should get an android your like it's the best thing since sliced bread. so i have a hard time beleiving some of you that your phone experiance is that bad.

Way too many people on this forum act like *******. I read some of the responses and Im like oh my fuggin God:rolleyes: You act like someone just punched your chick in the face....... There is NO real justification for the way people respond, None at all. Reality Check...ITS JUST A PHONE, and at this point its not the best one I have used in my time. But again its Just a phone, Its not gonna save the world or kick me in the nutz.:D

I fully agree...I am still pretty fresh at Android...but I also did the manual update and am not having any of the issues that people mention. The lag may be there but it doesn't bother me. It all depends what people had before, what they were used to and in turn the comparison and complaining are equivalent. It will be on 2.0 or even 2.1 and will have many bugs fixed...or people always have choice of waiting for a "better" one to come. :)

Have you ever owned a bb product? :D Their updates I call real ignorance...cause it takes months and months to get any... HTC already had one, and one is coming in January, which may possibly be 2.0. :)

I have owned a BB Storm 2. Yes, it was bad for the whole week I owned it (defective). As for the update in "January" where is the evidence it is coming in January? VZW says 1st quarter of 2010 which could mean March - late March.

This is bs if you ask me. I doubt any way in hell HTC support would say this even if it were true.

From my HTC response:

"Thank you for contacting HTC Support.

It is standard on HTC Android phones to take experience delay. I apologize for that inconvenience. However, you can try and clear your cache to see if this speeds up the load process. Also, turn off any applications you can that are set to run upon start. This too can decrease your load time."

I don't want a computer. I want a phone that does not take 5 minutes to turn on. I want a phone that disconnects a call when I press the button, not five seconds later. I want a phone that does not lag so visibly. I also want a phone that I don't have to recharge every 6 hours with VERY light usage. And when these issues occur and are so widespread, I want a phone from a company that acknowledges that these should be addressed rather than stating it is operating as intended.

I agree 100% my Eris works just fine, it's called maintenence, try closing apps you aren't using and keeping some memory clear, not installing 1000 apps that you don't use..

What an assumption. I have 5 apps installed. One of them is ATK that I run several times per day. My phone still experiences severe lag. It is the phone.

Everyone's on the Passion's nuts. It'll turn out to be a "laggy piece of crap" like the Eris and you'll be bitching about that too.

Of course, it seems like (on paper) a great marriage between the Droid and Eris. Well I don't know about the others but I won't buy it until I see what other peoples' experiences are. IF thisphone ever comes to fruition it should compete very nicely with the Droid.
