Housing - not cases

I've had my HTC Hero for just over a week now (well it's called the G2 on T-mobile in the UK however my post is not related to the network).

Unfortunately, 2 days after I purchased the phone I accidentally dropped the phone on the floor. Thankfully, the screen was not harmed in any way. However, the outer casing has 3 prominent scratches.

I know these are only superficial but I'd prefer to replace the fascia if possible (particularly because I have 18 months left on my contract!). I had already ordered a black Silicone Soft Case with 2 Screen Protectors when the accident happened but it has not arrived yet (sods law!!)

Hopefully the silicone case does not make the phone chunky or unsightly as I will probably keep it on to prevent any cases. Though I may only put it on when I'm out and about, don't think I'll need to use it in the house (famous last words!!).

I've looked everywhere but no where is stocking replacement fascias for the hero as yet, I guess the phone is still too new. Though the replacement fascia kits for the G1 costs around

Thanks happy. Yeah it does seem that it's too new at the moment. The HTC store doesn't seem to sell backup fascias, I can only seem to find them on ebay. No doubt they will start selling them over the next few months.

If I find anywhere that sells it though I'll let you know.

I have managed to find a white housing at a decent price
Original Housing Cove+ Keypad for HTC Google G3 White on eBay (end time 11-Feb-10 10:47:16 GMT)
but there are 2 issues with doing this.
You dont get the white volume keys in any housing replacement pack ive manage to find so far.

The main problem though is the antenna stickers on the back of the handset. If you take off the back of your HTC Magic or Hero you may notice these stickers above and below the battery with serial numbers on. These are connected to your GPS/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi modules on the circuity and is very difficult to take off without ripping. Also once taken off dont stick down very well again.

So id be careful when considering doing this.

have any of you guys ever tried to change your heros housing? its extremly difficult as ive already mentioned and almost impossible to do without damaging your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS antennas. the Antennas are foil stickers that lead to the back of the housing (have a look by just taking ths back off your phone) and these need to be peeled off and stuck back onto the new housing but as there are connected to the hardware and cant be removed its practically impossible to do so without ripping the foil or or the foil not sticking down on the new housing!!!! i have already tried it and ripped 2 out of the 3 antennas :(
