Few questions -> HTC Tattoo

Hello! First and foremost, merry xmas for everyone. Few days ago I bought myself HTC Tattoo phone, it is my first that advanced phone, previous ones were for ''sms&call only'' Can you guys please help me by answering some questions?

1) How I can send files to other phone through Bluetooth, I turn it on, but can't find option to browse and send files, do I need any special aplication for that? (name and link where to get it if possible, please )

2) Is there any way to UN-sync my phone with gmail? I am getting some errors because I deleted all mail entries from my phonebook which appeared there right after I ''synced'' phone with gmail. And now phone is going crazy saying ''Deletion limit reached'' and I can confirm deletion, but even if I do it, nothing happens..''error'' just pops up again after few seconds...

3) To connect to someone's Wi-Fi with mine, do I need to have ''phone web'' active? You know, the ''Internet i get from my simCard'', I turned net connection off because of it ninja steal my money for: look point b + weather and map updates.

4) If point 3 is positive, may I browse Internet through that Wi-Fi, if I have ''Simcard internet'' off?

1) It is not possible to transfer files by bluetooth but this is a problem with the Android operating system not the HTC Tattoo.

We hope that an updated version of Android will fix the problem

2) Don't know

3 & 4) You can switch off mobile (GPRS/HDSPA) internet and use wifi as they are different settings in the connectivity menu in the phone settings

Thanks, but is it really impossible to transfer files via bluetooth on Android based phones? Isn't it rather strange? When are they going to fix this?

Also, I downloaded some application called Bluetooth File Transfer, will it help?

I am getting ''Can't start File Transfer Profile (OBEX FTP) service search.

Reason: Return value is false.

What am I supposed to do in that case?

ok - you definately CANNOT transfer files via bluetooth on any android device. The tattoo is on version 1.6 of android - the much anticipated 2.0 android will have bluetooth transfer. The program you tried using is only compatible with android 2.0 (it says this in the details on marketplace).

Cheers for help. One last magic question - If 2.0 will be available for Tattoo at all, when this 2.0 is coming out?

2.0 here in the Netherlands will be rolled out on some phones in januari, hopefully the tattoo will be one of them.

just hope that it will be available by the end of next year.... sarcastic am i? well, i've been following some forums here in singapore and alot of htc hero users are still waiting for an update on their cupcake. They heard rumors that it'll be available november but till now no news. so just cross your fingers that end of next year we'll all have an update to eclair. or better yet upgrade to a newer model. haaayzzz... technology is killing our wallets. (
