Root What to do after root?

Hey all,

I'm going to have my x10 in around 2 weeks and I want to be fully prepared to root when I get it. So i have a few questions.

I want to use the one touch rooting app.
http://androidforums.com/x10-all-things-root/215481-one-click-root-app.html
It seems reliable, so is this the best way to go about it?

I would also like to debrand but so far I have no idea how to do that.
Is there a guide that can help me?

I have heard the keyboard is rubbish so I plan to replace that.
What is a decent one to replace it with and is there a guide for this?

When it comes to apps
What ones should I remove?
and
What apps should I download?

And it just ticked over to 2011 a few min ago, so Happy New Year to everyone :)

Hi.

That doesn't work with the new update so who knows how root will be achieved in a few weeks is anyone's guess, the method at the moment is using Zidihu's xRecovery prerooted rom.

There's loads, are you getting X10a or i?

The HTC ime is what I use

That depends on you and what your needs are. If your not getting it for a few week then I suggest you spend between now and then reading threads here at AF and over at XDA, as these "what to do" type threads are started every other week so you'll find most answers to your questions from searching and reading.

10hrs to go here, but happy New Year to you too.

I'm not sure if it its X10a or i, how do I tell? And whats the difference?

Once I have it rooted, will updates force me to re-root?
You can see what version you have by going to settings>about phone>then scroll down to model number and it will tell you X10a/i.

And if you update the firmware yes you'll have to re-root the phone and a note is that the latest 2.1 firmware blocked rooting so until someone finds a way around you'll have to wait.

Are you sure ? I just bought my X10a This morning and used Z4root 1.3 and it worked flawlessly. Whe I got home I updated t android 2.1,the used z4root. Everything works the same and SetCpu is pretty cool to.

Same here, but I think they are referring to the Build Number ending with .24. My phones Build Number ends with .504, which is the one you still can root to, as I have done so. Am I correct??
