I run launcher pro also and love your screen. I have to ask how you got the words on the bottom instead of Icons? How did you get your lock screen to look like that? And what did you use for your time and date? You are using the EVO right?

Thanks. The words in the dock bar are the "dreamlyfe" original theme which can be downloaded here: Dreamlyfe Design: Themes . The lock screen is "widgetlocker" [available on the market] which gives you tons of options as far as customizing the lock screen, paid app but well worth it IMO. Time and date are the "Tajm" widget on the market, and yes I am using an Evo.

After using LauncherPro Plus exclusively for a couple months...I think I've been converted to Go Launcher. It just seems a lot smoother to me than LPP. When LPP gets the major overhaul in April, maybe I'll convert back.

Go Launcher has the scrollable dock, which is my favorite part of LP (and I like the stock icons they have better for the dock). Only thing missing is the same type of widgets that LPP has, but I think I'm going to live without the one widget I can't seem to find a replacement for "Friends" widget.

I've found a free bookmarks widget that will work fine for me. I tried the Scrollable Contact Widget I used to use (that was unfortunately having issues being used with Launcher Pro) and it works perfect with Go Launcher. I already have an Agenda Calendar Widget that I prefer over the LPP Agenda Calendar Widget. I'm pretty much set.

Just wish this had come out prior to my buying LPP, but oh well.

Okay, I found 1 thing I don't like about Go Launcher.

On LPP, I could hide the toolbar and then anytime I needed to pull down the notification bar, all I had to do is hit the menu button and it would drop down along with the bottom menu.

With Go Launcher, that doesn't happen. Once you've selected to hide the taskbar/notification bar, you can't access it from the homescreen (at least, that's how it seems to me).

If I'm missing something and there's a way to hide the taskbar, but also be able to access it right away, would someone that's using Go Launcher let me know how to set that up?

So happy. Was browsing through google (keyword search "android icons") and I found a download link with some awesome android icons that was posted in the Motorola Droid X sub-forum

http://androidforums.com/droid-x-tips-tricks/115618-how-custom-icons-your-droid-x.html

I replaced all my dock icons in LPP using those!

There's also an app on the market called LauncherProIcons (works with any launcher that will let you customize icons) that has a library of icons for almost all apps and phone functions.

It will load up a page where you can scroll through and can just tap to replace icons for apps you already have installed, and you can scroll through all of them and tap the ones you want to download and they will be saved to /sdcard/LauncherProIcons. From that folder you can select the icons from the gallery to assign to apps.

They're very nice minimalistic icons.

Hey, I just started using go launcher and I am digging it. For the Notification if you go to preferences then "operation settings" you can assign "Up glide response" and "down glide response". So since you swipe your finger down to pull down the notification bar anyway I set the down glide response to "show/hide notification bar" so you swipe your finger down the middle of the screen and it shows the notification bar again, then you can pull it down, when you want to hide it again and just swipe down the middle of the screen again and it will hide it. You do have the option to use the menu key as well though.

Thanks. Someone had also given me that info, regarding the swype gesture, on the Droid X forums, so I have it set for now.

How do you set it so that the menu key makes the notification bar show/hide?

I liked Launcher Pro until it "expired" and caused me to waste a lot of time fixing the mess. Will never trust the developer again. Too bad, because it allowed me to remove or customize features as desired.

Then I tried Modaco's Gingerbread launcher, and liked it. Would prefer a Sense-less stock 2.3 interface (and apps).

But I reverted to the original Sense, because it still runs in the background anyway, is stable, and isn't that much worse than anything else. IMO.

I'd give ADW a try. The free version is better than the free Launcher Pro IMO. You don't get the widgets or the multiple docks, but it doesn't give you an annoying pop up when you try to edit a widget and accidentally trigger a resize.

I actually intended to try out LP+ on the day that expiration fiasco happened. Luckily the site went down as well so I managed to run across a thread about the crippling expiration before I had a chance to pay for it.

I'd recommend Go Launcher over the free version of Launcher Pro.

You get the multiple docks, just like Launcher Pro, AND you can re-size as part of the free launcher.

can you please advise if there are widgets for 4g, wifi, bluetooth, gps, profile, mobile on this app?

thanks

I use Widgetsoid for that and it's awesome! And Free!

Widgetsoid2.x - Android app on AppBrain

For a long time, I stuck with Sense because of the widgets, but the more I found apps to replace things that I really liked on Sense UI, I haven't gone back to using Sense in a long time.

I started messing around with Go launcher yesterday and so far I really like it. I had been having a bad problem with Sense having to reload almost every time I go to Home, and so far no such issues with Go. I also like how easy it is to set everything up.

Haven't noticed any battery drain at all. In fact, my battery seems to be better with GoLauncher than when I was using Launcher Pro Plus.

And if you were referring to widgetsoid, no extra battery drain from what I've seen.

i emailed go regarding the radio widgets and the response i got is "We will think over this new function ."

just FYI :)

OK I am having issues with home reloads again (I think it is widget locker causing the troubles), but Go reloads in about 1/3 the time it took for Sense to do so.

I have been using Sense from day one. I don't really see the need for a custom launcher and also try to avoid any frivolous app installing to keep my phone from getting all mucked up. With that said, I would though, like to hear from you folks that have been using other launchers and what kind of real world benefits my trusty Evo could gain by going down the custom road...
I understand where your coming from. I just started trying other launchers and they are faster than Sense. The only thing I can say about sense is that they have the best widgets in my opinion. They are beautiful and they all match perfectly. On the other hand GO LAUNCHER and LAUNCHER PRO PLUS are very fast. The level of customization almost has no limits. I still like Sense but I have been using LP for about a month and I'm pleased. I think GO LAUNCHER is better but it does not have widgets like LP.
