i'm a very busy business person
I have switched the company to google apps cause i am a real fan of android
Yesterday i was in the craziest day with jurnalists and i relied on my phone to do ATTACHMENT email operations.
SURPRISE gmail app can not upload files apart from certain non-business types+ none of the workarounds i tried succeded: going on web on gmail, yahoo, installed back the pop3 client for one of my gmail accounts only to. discover that the filetype i wanted to upload was unsupported.
Could it be that i am the first that has stretched the business functions of this phone so far
IT IS AWFULL, I AM SO SO DISSAPOINTED

Thanks for the help, i downloaded astro, seems to attach a file i could not earlier.
I should try a file with impossible extention just to be sure this is a satisfactory fix.
I am more relaxed now about it, but still i think google proprietory app sucks in an unbelivable way, anybody thinks the same?

Hello, everyone, I'm new to this forum and android devices. I bought my hero a couple of days ago. After one whole day of customization, I was really surprised and annoyed that this feature is not supported. An internet friendly phone that doesn't have an option of uploading attachments?! That's like having a car that can't steer right...
Tried htc mail client, gmail client, wen't directly to browser, and it says "uploading disabled"
really annoying. Astro is a life-saver...

i'm new too to this forum...got my Hero on 24th woohoo.

there is same issue of email attachments with my old iPhone and email attachments.

all i'm wondering now is why my battery life died after about 4 hours.

there was no wi-fi on only 3G with Twitter running in background and gmail on.
Zorro, the only thing that comes to my mind is that your gps was on. That takes alot of battery power. Also gmail app updates (refreshes) more frequently, maybe this is to take into account. What did you use to see your active processes? Advanced task killer? Something else? If you played with your device constantly, like I did for the first 2 days when I bought it, that would also explain short battery life. Or - it might be a combination of all.

Anyway, concerning email attachments, astro file manager is one of the best apps that does many things, and also uploads any kind of file to both htc and gmail clients.

Cheers

Sorry I may be being thick but ..... how please?

I have searched the help file in my latest version of Astro and can find no mention of this useful function. Can anybody tell me how this is done please?

Open up Astra, navigate to the file you want to send, tab and hold and a menu appears. Bottom item on menu ought to be "send".

WOW ..... what a great forum this is. Many thanks Brykins and Ziana for your instant answers. Just tried it and it worked - offering me use of Gmail or HTC mail apps. I always use HTC, but that usually only allows me to attach certain file types.

I wonder why there is no mention of this great function in the Astro help file, unless I missed it
