You can move this or link me to a post but I have searched and nothing has answered these exact questions.

1: Does rooting delete anything from your phone? Just using unrevoked? Does that delete anything? That is what I want to know.

2: If you root your phone with unrevoked, how do you get updates? Do you get notifications? If you do and you press yes to install, what happens, will it update and break the root? Also, if it doesn't install and update, how do you get the update? Do you have to unroot, get the update, and then re-root?

3: Do you really have to uninstall doubletwist? Or can you just make sure it's not running?

Please answer. I will post again if I have to, so..

Welcome to the forums!

1. Rooting by itself removes nothing but your shackles. :)

2. Updates will come from your dev community. With my phone, they're there in about a day of over the air for stock rooted roms. Somebuddy here will have to point out more info. Accepting OTA updates once rooted, not the way to go.

I'll let others with your same phone explain further.

Nothing is deleted but is best to back up everything you can't redownload just in case (pictures, music, documents etc..)
Updates come from the community, NEVER accept an OTA.
Never heard of an issue with doubletwist, but you will have to uninstall htc sync if you installed it.
You must leave the sd card in and formatted to fat32 (as stated in the root instructions http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked3 )

I made a backup of my phone immediately after rooting and before I removed or froze any of the preinstalled apps. If I ever get an OTA update notice, I will restore that backup before installing it just to be certain the update will install properly. Or I will just skip the update if my phone is running fine and\or I read that the update doesn't really do anything. I know with my LG Ally, I never installed an update because all they ever did was add more bloatware and not actaully fix anything. HTC might not be that bad, but i've grown wary of OTA updates from my experience with the Ally.
