Blank screen can't hang up with out sliding

its "normal". There are tons of posts here an on other forums about the screen staying black after hanging up. Some people think its a flaw in the phone...though I found a response on the motorola support forum from Motorola that claims it is intentional. If you are on a call longer than the screen timeout period, the screen will lock....and you will have to unlock it using the top button or slide out the screen. If that's the case its a dumb design.

I don't think it's normal? I've had the phone for many weeks now, and every time I pull it away from my ear, the screen reappears, almost instantly. Everytime.

The only time I've seen the lock screen when pulling the phone from my ear, is if I've navigated away from the default phone screen during an active phone call (by hitting the home button during the phone call to either look up a number/email address, or send a TXT msg with some info out) - even if I repress the phone icon and "Return the call in progress." The lock screen likes to show after the timeout period.

I'd return it, sounds like bad sensor.

EDIT: Or possibly an app you have in common that is causing a conflict with that operation?

I have the opposite problem....when I am on the phone I accidentally (unintentionally) hit keys on the screen that bring me to my voicemail, hits random numbers or (most often) hangs me up.

Does anyone know how I might lock the screen in the off position during a call so that I can avoid accidental hanging up/random VM calling?

When I briefly click the power/lock button it turns the screen off briefly, but if I accidentally take the phone away from my ear (e.g. hold the phone with my shoulder or just readjust my holding of the phone) the screen comes to life again. In other words - it does not LOCK.

When I click the power/lock button and hold it, it prompts me to power off.

When I hit the power/lock button and hold it, then hit it again briefly SOMETIMES it blacks the screen out so that I can't get it to come back alive (I have left some really long silent endings to voicemail messages where I can't hang up). But it never "locks" it so that I have to unlock it by sliding my finger across the screen.

So I guess my question is this: how do I use the lock button to make the screen actually lock!?

If anyone has seen a post that addresses this? I have been unable to find one.
