Just curious what brightness setting everyone is using? I'm talking normal, run-of-the-mill settings... not what you crank it to when you're outside, and not what you turn it down to for playing games in the dark.... I want your normal setting.

Anyone have an idea of how much power usage is impacted? (Like, does 100% Brightness use 50% more power than 10%, or does it use 400% more power?)

I've got mine locked on 100%. After a full day of typical use (disconnected at 8AM, observed at around midnight) my battery is typically around 60%. A typical day may consist of 10-15 minutes of internet browsing, 10 minutes of gaming, an hour of conversation, and reading maybe 20 emails. I don't see any point lowering the brightness if you're plugging the phone in every night anyway.

I have Tasker set my indoor (Home and Work)
to 0 brightness. My outdoor profiles (Default and Car) are set to auto brightness.

These profiles turn on automatically along with appropriate volume and keyguard settings (e.g., outdoors = max loudness on ringer and notifications, keyguard on; work = vibrate only; night = silent, keyguard off, but ringer stays on in case of emergency incoming calls) via Tasker.

I never have to touch my brightness, keyguard, and volume settings because of Tasker.

If you're not using the auto brightness feature, you can put your finger on the top of the screen and right before that pulldown menu comes up, you can slide your finger left or right and adjust the brightness.

Thing is, I ALWAYS end up changing my brightness accidentally because I use it frequently to access notifications like text msgs or facebook so I just use the auto brightness feature.

During the day, I keep the brightness cranked... but at night, even the lowest setting is way too-bright and is distracting when trying to use it in a dark environment without disturbing those around you. "Bright" at those times is like "Supernova Mode".

Try Screen Filter to dim it even more.

I have Tasker load the Screen Filter app when my Night profile kicks in.

Good app for dimming. But seems to disable by itself sometimes. Small annoyance, but not a deal breaker. Saves my eyes at night.

I use 100% throughout the day and 0% only at night when I'm going to sleep. Other than this, I only set my brightness setting in the browser to about 40%. I read something about how samoleds are better for blacks when it comes to battery life but are potentially worse with battery life when it comes to whites which is probably why samsung included a separate brightness setting for the browser.

Oh and I agree...at night, even the lowest setting is too bright.
