Questions about rooted Hero... really considering doing it!

Hi, I am seriously considering rooting my Hero, and would like to know some questions... thanks in advance!

1) How fast is it really? REALISTICALLY? Can it rival the iPhone 3GS? iPhone 3G at least?

2) Do apps stored on the SD open/load faster? (I have a 16Gb, class 6 card).

3) Can it work with Sprint/HTC things just as native Hero can? (i.e. HTC sync, Sprint updates, etc.)

4) Can it be restored back to an unrooted device? And can HTC/Sprint tell it was rooted by looking at the phone aftere it has been restored?

1. I rooted my Hero Sprint and yes it's faster now that I removed some apps.

2. Yes, they will load faster.

3. Yes

3 is only partially yes. You will not be able to do sprint firmware updates... but you can bet that someone will get a custom ROM built from it soon afterwards.
