Android Forums "Tapatalk" Like App

This has been discussed ad nauseum....

Moved to the Suggestion/Feedback forum.

Might I suggest reading through the following:
http://androidforums.com/suggestion-box-feedback/209735-cant-connect-af-tapatalk.html
http://androidforums.com/suggestion-box-feedback/41162-why-arent-we-tapatalk-yet-3.html (starting at about post 117)
http://androidforums.com/suggestion-box-feedback/122001-tapatalk-disabled-af-4.html (if you don't know why it was disabled).

Basically, as mentioned above, the app is currently under a CLOSED BETA for staff members and Premium members. I'm no developer and have no say on the release of the app, but it IS looking good and IS looking promising.

If having the app NOW is important to you, consider signing up for premium!

Believe it or not I'm not an idiot. I DID search the forums and read looking for an answer. I have been part of some of those discussions as well, but as far as I could tell nothing had been said as to WHEN it would be released. I had gathered that it was being tested by some and figured that if it was available to some, it would be the premium members.

I realize this has been questioned and angrily questioned in the past. I still believe AF is hosing many by closing Tapatalk. I am willing to accept the hosing because this is a strong community. What I'm not willing to accept is a measure of civility for asking a question. Lighten up Francis, not everyone that asks a question is stirring up a storm. I was asking an honest question of whether or not this app is scheduled to see the light of day anytime soon or not. Apparently, no one knows. I'd say we'll see it when we see Swype opened up from Beta. Never.

Thanks for the respectful response. I can accept that, I was just wondering if I'd missed it somewhere or if there was a date coming. Like I said, when Tapatalk was disabled, it was widely broadcast that before the end of August it would be out. It's November. I'm sure you can see where I'd have thought it was out and I missed it.

We are getting hosed cause we cant use tapatalk?

Imo tapatalk sucks

i would much rather use the mobile skin available here to all members for free.

Yeah you're getting hosed, when the ONLY reason why you paid for Tapatalk is to use it here and 2 days after I buy it, it is closed for security reasons. Then the reasons were patched by Tapatalk "allegedly" but it's still closed because a greater app is coming down the pipeline in August. Fine, I just wanted to know if I missed it.

We know that a lot of people think that AF removed tapatalk to be mean and others are still under the impression that the reasoning behind it was in some ways nefarious or evil. We've even had Nazi comparisons thrown our way for some reason because of it. The conspiracy theories abound on the subject and may be rivaling the JFK assassination, Roswell alien landing and the lunar mission in popularity these days. The truth has and always been the same since the first day it was posted on the forum.

Will tapatalk return to AF? Probably not ever.
Are we evil? Most of us aren't ;)
Is there a Phandroid app in the works? Yes.
Will the app be released for free to everyone that wants it? Yep.
Will the app be released if it has bugs, design flaws, FCs, huge loading times, is battery draining, unroots your phone, converts you to Buddhism, forces you to take pictures out of focus, changes you Facebook status to deceased, sms bombs your mother, sends love emails to your boss or auto downloads every fart app to your phone? Probably......wait......No....I mean no.

Seriously, the app is in testing and everyone involved wants it to work as well as humanly possible from day one. :D

Never said or implied that you were. :)

Oh, I completely understand. As Frisco mentioned, until it's done, no one knows (except for maybe the owner/dev of the app).

Wasn't Swype made to be only available to OEMs? That's a whole different story. ;) The site owner (Rob) really wants a quality product to be released as soon as possible.

Just wanted to add that the application really is being worked on: we see new versions pop up frequently. The public beta was started about a month ago and there have been 5 versions that I know of.

FYI - From the owner's mouth (errr... keyboard)

Q: What gives? when will we get the long awaited much anticipated phandroid app? please release it NOW!!! Also, please tell me it will have alerts?

A: Premium AF Members have had access to a private beta of the application for about a month and a public beta SHOULD go live in the next week or two. It

so we were talking about this on a thread i started and they locked it and i think why have so many apps to talk on forums tapatalk is one app for so many threads just dont see why the owner cant just allow it its not like he is held for anythign if he puts a disclaimer i rather have 1 app for x amount of forums instead of two apps one for one forum and another for x amount saying that they have a app for ppl who pay for their membership can get a beta just wish ppl could discalimer stuff and let it be but really this forum had died out alot were over at xda is booming so why not just boycott this site till they get it we controll this site as memebers not the owners

I'm not sure what you mean by adding a disclaimer - how would that help?

as in if they stopped using tapatalk cause of a security break or what not state that they will be open tog o back but they are not reliable for anything if you info get taken or what not but i if you going to stop using something that helps ppl post on your thread which we make this all happen with out us this forum wouldnt be long gone and your goign to take away a option that everyone loved then he need to get a reason why he did it

Having a disclaimer wouldn't be very useful. Disclaimers let people wash their hands of other people's problems, but if people's login details were stolen it would create a massive headache for everybody on the site (including the admins).

That's kind of irrelevant now however, since whilst security is the reason it was pulled, it's not the reason why it wasn't brought back. (See Phases' post here for a full explanation).

just dont see why the owner cant just allow it its not like he is held for anythign if he puts a disclaimer

It's HIS site, HIS money, HIS reputation and HIS security at stake, so he is entitled to do what he wishes.

we controll this site as memebers not the owners
Wrong. This isn't a democracy, it's a privately-owned and run web forum that you are allowed to access free, gratis and for nothing.
