$10 app that lets you remotely control your PC from your phone. On my Droid, this works like a dream. Pinch to zoom makes it very easy to do.

It doesn't transmit audio (bummer) and I haven't found out how to just move the mouse around without clicking on something, but for now, it's pretty awesome.

Unfortunately, it says "VNC" in their keywords ... but they don't support VNC. Instead, it requires installation of a custom agent on your computer ... and it is Windows only. 3 strikes (deceptive keywords, custom agent required, windows required).

I'm looking at Remote VNC Pro right now. It does exactly what it says, and I've got it connected via ConnectBot port forwarding. Mostly works like a charm (Mac's Vine VNC server works perfectly with it; Ubuntu's VNC server has an issue with mouse movement, still trying to work that one out). If you want a VNC client, right now, I'd go with this one. Hopefully I'll work out the mouse issue on Ubuntu, though.

Just click on your vibrate search button, it will bring up a cursor you can move around.

I love being able to harvest my crops on FB now!! LOL

I retract my "deceptive" comment about PhoneMyPC.

I complained to them, and they were very gracious about it, and asked for better wording to avoid the confusion with future customers. Sounds like they're good solid people.

If I was a Windows user, I'd probably go out of my way to buy from people who are that constructive.

I use Remoid right now, since all Windows OSs since XP support RDP, but it works OOB with Windows 7 machines too - a nice bonus.

Since I already have my RDP setup in my home machine, along with a Dynamic DNS host assigned to my IP address, I am already set.

(Been using RDP from my laptop at school to my desktop at home for a number of purposes - but mainly to get homework :p)

Early this morning I read a review of PhoneMyPC - a program to access and control a windows based PC. I have tried all the VNC and other remote PC access program and found them slow, hard to manage, and difficult to configure for my complex system. I figured I would install this, get frustrated, and uninstall for a refund. Programs like this never live up to the hype.

This one did!!! It installed in minutes. The $9.99 program installed on my Droid without a hitch and I went to the company's website using my Windows 7 based computer and downloaded the PC client. I had to set a computer name, user name, and password and that was it. My Droid connected on the first attempt. I have been playing with it all day long and had fun watching the iPhone crowd's jaws drop when I showed it off.

This program allows me to not only control my PC, I can secretly view remotely what others are doing on my computer. I can navigate using the touchscreen or the trackball (or whatever it is called) on my Droid. I can also use the program for simple remote cursor control and keyboard entry. Using my wireless network there is almost no lag. 3G is almost as fast (just a little slower on the screen writes and max resolution. I can take screen snapshots, even control windows processes and access running programs with a task manager type menu.

My favorite feature is the ability to configure "executive actions" which allow me to shut down, restart, and run other commands with just 1 key press (great to run "ccleaner" when I forget to cover my tracks :D).

Oops, forgot to mention that you can use pinch screen resizing and it is flawless. I had no intention of keeping this program but I dare you to try and pry it out of my Droid. So far the only thing lacking is streaming sound, but I am sure it is in the works.

Download it, give it a test drive, and you too will be a believer :p The company's webpage is located at:

<Blush> Thanks for the awesome review!

Sound IS in the works! It's not at the top of the list, however it shouldn't be long.

@vincentp: PhoneMyPC allows up to 3 PCs at present. We have ideas about more, but are just being protective of our server resources at the time being. Setting up multiple PC's is trivial; simply install the PC client on each, and enter the same user-name/password on them. That's it!

Curious how folks are using this...it would be interesting to have, but as I thought about it I couldn't think of a reason why I would need this on a regular basis. W/the Droid, I pretty much have a PC in my hands all the time already.

I know you can use it to spy on activity on a remote PC if you like, that's not important to me.

What are you guys using it for?

I use it because I have some proprietary company software on my laptop. This program will only run on a windows machine. By using PhoneMyPC I can run it from any place. I ran it today from my boat on the Droid.

PhoneMyPC is the easiest to use of any of these types of programs. I

Does anyone know if this software would allow me to remote to my home pc to watch my slingbox.

Currently there is no slingbox application for the android and my pc doesnt have a tv out. I probably could go out and buy another video card that has a tv out on it BUT thought it would be easier and cheaper to remote to my pc and launch the slingbox icon on my home pc.

I downloaded one of the free rdp programs and tried this but I didnt get any picture. I wasnt sure if it didnt work because the FREE version didnt have the option OR if there was an issue not having flash or the proper codecs or if I need a different media player for my droid. I currently am using the default one.

The picture comes through great but as of now PhoneMyPC has no audio. In the past I have used Orb to stream audio and video when I had my Treo and it worked fairly well.

Ohhh, this app is great. I've been using it for a few days now and I love it.

Best use I've found so far? I conspired with my best friend's fiance and had her install the client on his computer and hide the icon in the system tray. When I'm bored at work, I make slight changes to his desktop. Being his tech go-to guy, he's already called me three times asking about this weird "virus" he has, to which I respond "it's probably just Windows".

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's extremely useful on my own computers, too :)
