Droid mating with a USB thumbdrive?

Being that a droid can read/write to a sd card, is it possible for a droid to read/write to a thumbdrive via a micro USB/USB cable with a gender change adaptor?

Removing my droid armour, removing the battery cover, removing the battery, swapping out the tiny micro sd card, and then putting it all back together again ..... whew.....

If it could work, I think of all the info I could have at hand when I need it.

I like that "whew" at the end of that sentence. As if you just dug a 100 foot ditch by hand. :D :D :D

With root, this will be eventually possible. It's fairly simple really. But you're going to have to be patience. Until then, keep working on that ditch.

any update to this?

i was in the market to buy a microsd card, and wanted a 32gb one. the problem is that theyre so expensive, and there are so many fake ones out there. it's hard to know what's a real card and what's a fake.

so i thought, what if i can just store my music/movies on a thumb drive (which is cheap, and i already carry them around anyway), and just use a male micro usb to female usb cable and then attach a thumb drive to the end of that. then my android phone can access the music from the thumb drive, and play music/movies.

this way, i can just use the thumb drives i already have, and i would only need to buy a cheap cable. would this work? or is buying a microsd card the only way to go?

Not if you stick with reputable brands and vendors. Same as any shopping on the internet.

It's more than "just a cheap USB cable". The link above has details.
