Google Goggles

Not sure about taking a picture of something you already have in front of you at home. Just as easy to type in the info on Google and hit search. However, if you're in a store and you see something, wondering if it can be bought cheaper online, I think whipping out your phone and snapping a pic of the barcode to see what it gives you would be tremendously useful. Somewhere down the road (no pun intended) I'd love to see how well this functions with street view.

Just downloaded the Goggles app. Took a snap of a digital camera I have....first run through no go..but second time it picked it up and took me to the correct web page. Nice. Dont know how much use I would get out of it, but at least it works.

I agree with you. I tried a few books and had some decent luck with it. It's a super idea, but I don't think it works WELL enough to really be put to the use that often in the wild. I'm anxious to try it out on some popular bridges and buildings to see if it can pick them up well.

Have you shot any outdoor objects?
