Vignette or Camera Zoom FX?

Hi,
I've been using FX camera for a few days and really like it so was looking at going a step better with either Vignette or Camera Zoom FX and just wondered what people prefer? Camera zoom Fx is a quid cheaper at the moment but it's only a quid so not really an issue.

I have camera zoom fx, but don't tend to use it. Haven;t used vignette. You know you get to try paid apps for 24 hours getting a refund if you uninstall it within that time? Give them a try yourself

I've been playing with them both for a while now and vignette in my opinion is loads better. In fact from what i can tell for me there's no need to even buy the full version as i'll use it to muck about with pics I've taken already rather than take pics with an effect and you can import pics into the free version. having said that i'll keep the paid version as i think 3 quid is a fair price and it's nice to support these people!

*edit actually just realised it is better to pay for the full app as you can't save anything higher than 0.3mp

I also have had both apps for a while and would say Camera ZOOM FX is
the stronger of the two.

Vignette has some very cool effects - the interface is simple to use, although doesn't have many features beyond effects and borders.

With Camera ZOOM, I can activate pictures by clapping.

I can customize every hardware button and gestures to perform specific actions, e.g. I can set volume button to take picture, swipe left to change to a different filter, swipe right for a different border, etc.

I have a stable shot meter which waits for the right moment to take the picture - it seems to reduce the amount of blurring.

And it comes with about 40 free skin packs which can also help create arty pictures - by far the best of these are the digicomposites which create a high quality finish.

I think there's loads more features too but I haven't had the time to test them all.

If Camera ZOOM FX is the cheaper of the two, I would definitely go for this option right now.

both should have enough features for you to play with but their interface is rather different. (i personally like vignette more) have a look at some demos on youtube to see which one you prefer. or as lekky has said you could always buy both and get a refund from one of them within 24hrs=)

p.s. camera zoom fx has juz increased their price and its now same as vignette.

Do either of these improve on the stock camera in terms of the contrast of the image. I have taken lots of photos and have to use a paint package to fix a lot of the ones where there is a bright sky but a dark object. Mostly it just seems to white out the sky and the object is very dark.

I have even tried fiddling with the rubbish brightness and contrast settings. I think if it had 'levels' option you could adjust that would fix it out the box. Mostly I have been making the images darker overall then playing with the levels to 'fix' it.

I tends to use these apps for fun and the stock camera to take proper pictures. i heard ppl with moto droid do uses apps like vignette and pro zoom camera rather than the stock one but imo htc desire does have a pretty decent 5MP cam.

ps. have you tried tapping on the dark area to focus. sure it will white out the rest but the object you wanna take should be much brighter.

the interfaces are different but i find camera zoom fx much easier to use. almost every camera option is only 2 clicks away within the main camera preview screen and i don't need to keep going to the settings screen.

also MUCH prefer having a real time zoom preview rather than a crop indicator - far better for composing pics.

still keeping both apps though.

I have Vignette and I love it. It is mainly about taking creative photo's as it has a large number of pre-built effects.

It does have a very effective zoom though, for a digital zoom the creators have clearly put together a very clever formula for taking a blurry mess and turning it into a surprisingly clear image.

Vignette allows you to create favourite effects using combinations of the filters and frames available, so one of mine is a Polaroid SX70 that frames the image with an instamatic style frame while the image itself is set up to create a bit of colour bleed and over saturation to complete the look. Another one is a faded frame with grainy black and white image. They look great, I've even printed and cut them out and they look pretty authentic

I'll see if I can create a public gallery somewhere with examples or if someone can explain how I attach an image here I'll do that!

Having tried them both, they are both pretty good - but I would choose Camera zoom FX if buying just one.

Vignette has a fake zoom meaning it only indicates where it would crop, whereas zoom fx is realtime. It gives more customization options like stable shot and voice activation.

And above all, its much more fun - loads of famous buddies, props, etc.

Vignette does very nice effects but is let down by speed. Best combo would be Camerazoom with post processing on pc / mac i would say.

i take pictures for a living and for me vignette is just awesome. it's a lot of fun and is constantly being updated by the devs. i've taken some of my best pics with it!

camerazoom fx is very impressive imo. great interface and gives me the most options i need - loads of fun addons too - most of which i found are free. great replacement for the stock camera.

not tried the other app.

Vignette is tonnes better. Its actually not even comparable.
Searh Google for all those reviews out there, nothing can hold a candle against the app. I've bought the full version a month ago and loving my Galaxy S even more because of it.

It is, from what I can gather after an hour of playing with it, a rather spartan handful of uninteresting effects. The only bit I do like is the 'composite' pack. The effects seem a bit cheap and sorry. Will continue to play for the day and see if my mind changes, then I will try Vignette. I have heard Vignette has a time-lapse facility which appeals.

I've found Vignette (paid version) a bit finicky on my Droid X. It will often not respond to the camera button and can take forever to save the picture it finally decides to take. I've gone back to the stock camera which may not have as many nifty features (which can all be applied later with other utilities), but it takes the picture every time.

Not sure if I messed with Camera Zoom FX, think I'll play with that one next.

As someone who edits plenty of photos, I will say Vignette BY A MILE.

Zoom FX has improved their UI but their photo enhancements aren't spectacular at all.

Vignette offers a ton of photo effects that can be customized, mixed, and matched. It has way more shooting options and everything comes with the app download. With Zoom, you get a basic, unimpressive package, and when you want to try other effects, it requires you to download other packages. And these add-on effects are things like useless props, which is cool if that's your thing, but don't expect photo enhancement filters.

Just to update: defo going to get a refund on Camera Zoom FX. It freezes, doesn't save when I ask it to and locks my whole phone up. I'm on a brand new HTC Desire HD, so capacity and available space and processor speed is not an issue.

Can't get a refund. Stuck with this unusable piece of software now as Android only accepts a refund for 15 minutes!! It says so on my receipt of purchase. Sucks big style. Please beware if you intend to buy this software that might not work for you.
