I have been on Cognition for a little while and it was very good. Smooth and fast. I wanted to shake things up a bit so I tried Paragon RC4, holy crap. It was awful, the notification bar was so laggy when you drag it down and the theme and look of it wasn't very nice IMO. I couldn't get my phone to go into download mode either while trying to flash a diffrent ROM the right way. I decided to skip some steps and re-install Cog. It worked luckily and I was able to get to download mode to install a ROM the right way. I decided to give Serendipity a try since reinbeau keeps on stating that it is so good, so I gave it a shot. I love it. It is so smooth and I love how it has a sort of gingerbread theme to it. Everything is smooth and fast and I love it. If you are wondering what ROM to try next and you haven't tried Serendipity. GO FOR IT! You won't regret it.

Thanks to reinbeau again!

I was originally on cognition 3 which was my first rom, thenI tried it serendipity 4.3 and my phone kept freezing up randomly requiring battery pulls so i flashed back to cognition. Even on the very first boot, the laucher froze. I switch to launcher pro and still had a problem. Also the browser lagged up and froze on sites using flash. i don't really know what was going on.

I'm on Serendipity but I don't know...there's some things I miss from Cognition?

- Where is voice recorder/video player?
- What's with these different ringtones?
- Doesn't quiet call with volume keys
- Where's Gtalk?
- Changed all " 's " in my calendar to "." So for ex: Name Lastname's birthday is now Name Lastname. Birthday ?
- In the stock calendar, to see the info on a day I have to click the following day. So if I want to see Jan 28, I have go into Jan 29.

Is all of that just me?

It IS lightning fast though, super impressive. I love taking photos with the power button too. I think I'll switch back on Sunday, if I don't get used to the things listed above.

I actually have had a few problems today. I have some problems with the market and sometimes my phone wont work on headphones?? Wierd, I'm probably going back to Cognition. I just wish Cognition 3.04 wasn't a launcher pro theme. I like the Froyo Style

you could try firefly, from the dev of phoenix and another that slips my mind. its based off of the canadian froyo like cognition. i tend to like his alittle more. im flashing it tonight

Hmm, I'm going to try it with headphones to see if I get similar errors. My market is okay as far as I can tell.

Serendipity also will not acknowledge GoSMS as the default messaging app. Whenever a new message comes in, it reverts to the phone default.

I guess I'll go back. I'm going to miss the speed on this bad boy.

You more then likely need to disable vodoo go back to stock then reflash.

I hope you find one that works better for you. I've had no problems other than some phone FCs, that will be fixed with version 5.

1. Mikey has links to frequently used apps such as the recorder and video player in his OP. Just copy and paste into system/app (with the super manager app) or paste them into the .zip in system/app before you flash the rom.

2. The ringtones are different from stock? I thought he just added new ones in. I've never used stock ringtones. I recommend Zedge!

3. Hit the power button to quiet a call (your screen WILL go black but it will not reject the call, drag the red finger to reject the call).

4. Post on the Serendipity thread and ask for gtalk, someone will probably have a .apk for you. **EDIT** Google talk is already in the OP with the other frequently used apps, follow step 1 to install.

5 & 6. You got me, I don't have either one of those problems. Did it change your google calendar in the cloud as well? I'd post about this bug in the forum, I bet you could just drop in another calendar.apk and that would fix it. Or could be a new bug (at least the 's into .) the day error sounds like a singular problem.

Serendipity's thread is full of helpful people, if Mikey doesn't personally fix a problem a user will. Or at least try. :)

Thank you so much Endoran, I'll figure out exactly how to add on those apps (noob alert) as I've gotten so used to them.

reinbeau, I can't recreate it either. I have 5 calendars, all are fine and well except for "My Calendar" which is where the 's were switched. It's also not letting me edit the entries (if I create a new one is all good) since the edit button disappears. "US Holidays" calendar also doesn't let me edit, but maybe that one has always been like that. I do like Serendipity enough where I'm considering deleting the bdays in "My Calendar" and adding them again.

A question for anyone who might know...can one take an apk that's specific to a ROM, and install it in a different ROM? For example, I love the music app in Serendipity, could I take that apk and put it in Cognition's system/app folder?

I am having the same issue with the stock Calendar on Paragon, so I am thinking it is not a Serendipity issue, but an i9000 ROM issue. I don't mind it though because I don't use My Calendar. I use my Gmail calendar so it is always synced with my Gmail account and I don't lose it if I feel like flashing another ROM. For the same reason I don't store any contacts on the phone contact list.

FireFly is really really smooth. It if very dependable like Cognition. Everyone should give it a go. I'm kinda bouncing around ROM's so I know whats out there to make a good decision.

Reading the posts on XDA forums about Firefly is giving me doubts about flashing it. Everything from the removal of the clock in the notification bar and the modification to get ti back to the inability to record 720p video. Can you record 720p video on your phone with Firefly?

I'm using firefly too. The 720p recording issue has a simple solution. Apparently the kernel that comes with firefly 2.0.5 does not support 720p. All you have to do is flash the speedmod k12s kernel and you are good to go. I tried it myself and it worked with no issues.

Yeah, now how accurate is your GPS? Some people have been posting that they flashed Firefly 2.0.5 and then flashed the speedmod K12 kernel and now their GPS won't lock. So the recommendation is to flash a different modem. This seems like too much work, especially for a ROM that might be updated a couple times a month.

My gps locked quickly but was not accurate. I'll have to check out xda for a different kernel.

I tried to install Cezar's Rom yesterday and OMG. My phone bricked. Got stuck on the Samsung screen. Odin would find it. I tried every button method a ton of times and nothing ever worked. I ended up having to make my own JIG with a motorola usb and 3 resistors. It was a long shot and it was very complicated. I had to stip the usb to the cords and connect them to the resistors. It worked though and forced my phone into download mode. I am back to Cognition for now until I can face my fears to try other ROMs lol. I seriously almost lost my phone. I am in college and pay for it barely. I have no money for a new phone so I would have been SOL haha.
