Help strange quirk with sending texts to multiple people

Normally when you send a text to someone who you already have a saved series of text messages with, it just adds your message to the conversation thread.

If you send a text message to more than one person at a time, the Captivate creates a new text message thread and displays your message once per person you sent it to. When those people reply, their replies go back to their individual conversation threads instead of being added to the new group thread that was created.

Is this a bug or a feature? I don't know of any way to "reply all" to a text message sent to multiple people, or even any way to know that a text you received was sent to multiple people. Having said that, why does the Captivate create a separate conversation thread for text messages sent to multiple recipients, and why are those recipients' replies sent back to their invididual conversation threads instead of being added to the group thread?

I hope my question makes sense. I did a search and coudn't find anything on this.

I find this annoying too. Just one more thing I miss about my Windows Mobile phone.

This is very annoying. I notice it in Handscent as well.

I hated that in Handcent and other things. Is there a way to create a GROUP to send text messages to? I want to be able to send to a pre-determined group of abut 36 students without having to type in all of their phone numbers everytime. Is this possible on the Droid 2?

On Handschent when you hit the compose button at top left you will then get a screen with the "To" recipient. look to the right and you will see a + sign at the top right side, press that and then your screen will change and you will have 3 choices 1: Contact where you pick individual people, 2: group where you choose the name of a group of people that you already made a group from your regular contacts menu, and 3: recent the most recent people you have texted. You already have to have a group set up in your main contacts menu to utilze group. once you choose the group then press the menu button on bottom left of screen and choose "End Select" and it will take you back to the composition page and type your message and send to all in that group! Hope that helps.

I just got my DROID pro and I had a Black Berry, I was trying to figure this out and I did. When you go to contacts hit the button that brings up the screen that says add contact and search and display group and other things. Hit display group and you can create a group. This next point is very important. When you add a person to the group, you have to make sure their number is saved as mobile and not work or home or nothing else. If you dont, it will save but you will not be able to send text messages to them. I just did this and it's true.
