Help What is the most efficent UI for the droid.. I am a new droid user

I started using Launcher+ Beta after using the Droid "as shipped" for the first month. I'm still learning/exploring the Android platform on my Motorola Droid and am slowly wandering from the "default" experience. I was lured by the additional home screens. I selected 5 screens. One screen is just for phone and messaging shortcuts and one is still unpopulated. I plan to dedicate the fifth screen to Google Navigation.

I haven't yet rooted my phone and am still rather novice. I'm avoiding the ROMs and homes out there so far because I don't want my opinion of Android and my Droid to be colored by non-standard, possibly less-tested SW.

I have had Launcher+ "force close" a couple times, and had only seen the default home crash once in my first month.

I also use Handcent and Dolphin Browser (multi-touch) to enrich my user experience. Other favorite apps are Pandora, MotoTorch, Phandroid News, Tea Time, Google Sky, Quick Settings, Listen, TED, NPR News and NPR Podcasts.

For peering into the "black box," I use: Astro, TasKiller, NetMeter, Speed Test, TaskManager, Top application. WhatIsMyIP and Wifi Analyzer.

i agree. i really am looking to have the date, time and weather on my homescreen
<strike>Beautiful Widgets</strike> oops BW is no longer in Android Market. I also like Retro Clock Widget and The Weather Channel.

I try to stay away from paid apps. I am cheap but truly I'm evaluating Android as an "open/free" platform. Will Motorola Droid Satisfy Us? - Mobile Roar Forum

If I can be so bold, I recommend that you look at my 50+ posts and the threads they're in. I have a pretty good post about task killers, explaining how Android and Linux manage resources. http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/18334-task-killer-apps-truth-2.html#post116900 This could be a quick bootstrap for your Droid incursion.
