okay guys, finally news leaked. and looks like verizon is gonna be either hit or miss. we are NOT getting a new HTC Passion this early as some thought, it seems that verizon has a close relationship with motorola so you better get used to it ;\

As i've stated before i follow the feeds on these new early android phones, and basically, its been pretty much confirmed that HTC's only focus right now is the Nexus One. It is HTC's pride and glory as it will be completely 'googlized' and will only be avaliable on the t-mobile network (figures since they have been together the longest).. so as far as i know and what i've been reading, goodbye htc rumors for verizon this early in the year. They also stated the the droid eris will become quote "long in the tooth" once this new device is launched.

Bigger news is with motorola (the only company that seems to have any relationship right now with CES and verizon) will be releasing a new android based phone for AT&T with oled screen and physical keyboard but will lack many basics such as 2.0 OS, instead running on 1.6.

For us verizon users, it is also stated this morning that motorola "may announce" (yes they will) a second android phone for verizon wireless. forget about the droid devour, this phone is rumored to have ONLY a soft keyboard, no hardware keyboard. Could this be the sholes that have been rumored? images have been leaked so be sure to check it out. the phone is also supposed to pack a punch with 800mhz and has a more consumer friendly design with rounded edges. Also comes packed with a 8megapixel camera! Earlier reports said that the next motorola phone was going to be 'little brother droid', the devour. Boy, would this be a laughing stock. That thing belongs somewhere in toys 'r us!

the fact that htc is now moving away from its only 'google phone' to compete with the world and instead teaming with t-mobile is a bit sad for many do not like motorola. but its going to be something we may have to live with for awhile.

This is heartbreaking for me because I was going to pick up the Droid today (30th), but now I want to see about this new motorola phone coming to verizon. If its the sholes and the leaked pictures are correct, it looks like a very nice device running 2.1.

Verizon/Motorola will be holding the announcement on the 6th of January (day after the release of the nexus one, who would have guessed). I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hope some of you find this information interesting. if you want more information, go to google and look up new verizon android phone (might even want to throw motorola in there) and look at the LATEST news.

I guess we've been hit by some good and bad news.

One question for people who usually follow CES, when an announcement of a new phone is put up, how long does it usually take for the phone to hit the market?

oh well. i guess i'm stuck with my Eris. i'm at work and can't return it. but that's cool. now i can concentrate on making the most of this thing, and getting excited about the 2.0 or 2.1 update and hoping things get all straightened out. and i can spring for some of those seidio accessories i've been wanting but waiting on because i wasn't sure if i would try and switch back to the Droid.

I would never pay $529 for the Nexus One, nor would I pay $179 and have to suffer through a 2yr T-Mob contract. The Eris is a kick ass phone that does everything anyone would need a phone to do. A 1GHz processor will barely be any faster than the Eris and you think our battery life is bad (actually not that bad once you run it through a few charger cycles) wait until people start complaining about the battery on the Nexus. Once rooted, the eris can be made to look identical to the Nexus. The only benefit as I see it would be that it is unlocked but I have a blackberry for that ;)

Minus a half-inch, a couple hundred thousand pixels, and an oled display. And I have to laugh at "a 1GHz processor will barely be any faster than the Eris [528MHz]" - LMAO, seriously?

It's unfair to compare a 528mhz to a 1ghz. That's stupid. That's like comparing Android 1.5 to iPhones 3.1.2 software thats been in development for 3 years. Eris' Android 1.5 runs circles around iPhone 1.0 software, and 2.0 as well.

I would love a snapdragon processor. I really would. And i refuse to pay 500$ for a phone, i'm sorry, i don't care if it does have a snapdragon.

And i agree with moto sucking. I don't trust their phones. I had a razer, and it broke in like 2 days for no reason. Never went back. Play with my friends droid, like it, but eh. i chose my eris and im happy.

i only see two, i think the third one was made by someone else.

anyways

i just read something interesting.. first of all the droid's little brother will be coming out in early 2010, so thats a guarentee. but i doubt it will have any say on the 5th.

what i did hear is discouraging and may incline me to go and just get a droid, i just read this new article that states..

The other rumored phone is the Motorola Opus One, a phone that looks similar to the HTC Eris and rumored Google Nexus One. It comes with a "Zeus" XScale processor, 512MB Flash / 256MB of RAM, 3.1-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, accelerometer, proximity sensor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a microSD card slot and Android location-based services, integrated into the iDEN GPS engine.

Neither would be a high-end phone. They are aimed at the mid-range, below Motorola's hit Droid.

im definitely not looking for a mid-range/below the droid's phone. if im going to wait any longer, i want the high-end phone. and it seems droid (with the huge xmas sales) is not going anywhere.
